What extracurricular activities do colleges look for if you don't play a sport? #FALL22

I would like to get into an Ivy League college but i don't play a sport. I do a lot of other extracurricular activities like playing the violin, community service, DECA, tech crew, and case rally, ect. I wanted to know if colleges look at these clubs as of equal value to sports.

How do I get into a high ranking college?

my scores in academics aren't that...good. I have around 2Bs and 2Cs in my A levels and I want to ensure that I can still get into a few top-tiered colleges. In what ways can I build my portfolio so I can get in without much of a focus on my 'lack of academic performance'?

What would be the benefits of joining Phi Theta Kappa as a remote student?

My community college has invited me to join their Phi Theta Kappa club several times. However, I don't feel that there's much point in me joining because I am a remote out of state student. I don't that I would be very much involved in the club. The only benefit that I can think of is that it would look good on my resume? What are your thoughts/advice on this?

I need some names of sites, where I can enhance my extracurriculars this summer online.

I have tried Coursera, but the courses are paid. For online volunteering, I want some short-term online opportunities, if anybody can help me, that would really help.

Nursing school while playing minor hockey?

I am going to start nursing school in September 2021 and want to continue playing minor hockey (I am young enough still to play minor hockey for 2 years). It’s not overly competitive but I love the sport more than life. I’m worried about balancing it with the demands of nursing school especially because my hockey team is not through my school so the schedules will most likely conflict & my profs won’t be so understanding. I just want to know if it’s possible. In my Bantam year, my practices were 2 nights a week for an hour and games were on weekends, 1 or 2 games a weekend and then 1-2 tournaments. I expect this year playing Midget will be similar in terms of time spent on the ice since it’s not competitive. I really really wanna be able to play and I would be so devastated if I couldn’t. I’m mostly worried it’ll conflict with my clinicals but I believe I’ll be on the rotation that starts clinicals in January 2022, not fall when it starts, so I’ll most likely be able to manage the schedule then, I just worry about my winter semester :( Please offer any advice u can #school #university #sports #nursingschool #hockey #extracurriculars

Should I focus on academics or extracurricular activities?

I will start a one year graduate program this fall. I am also active as a volunteer and leader in several organizations that match my interests and later career goals. If my academic responsibilities and my responsibilities due to my positions in these organizations conflict, can it make sense to let my grades slip slightly to keep performing well in volunteer positions that might help secure jobs and connections that are relevant for my later career? Or should I prioritize keeping my grades up? #college #extracurriculars #studying #grades #volunteer #jobs

How much extracurricular work is too much?

Graduate classes + a (mandatory) internship + a job = Too much? My graduate program requires me to work an internship. My financial situation requires me to work another job. But after the homework, the interning, and the work days -- will I miss out on school organizations, meetings, conferences, and lectures? How do I know that I'll have enough time for everything? How do I manage my time appropriately? I want to make a grad school network -- but what if I'm too busy doing everything outside of school? #extracurriculars #worried #internship #job #workstudy #organization #timemanagement

Advice for extracurricular activities?

I am going to a four-year college in the fall, and I want to participate in extracurricular activities. I know it will look better on my college resume, and possibly open up the door for more scholarships However, I have panic disorder and am not very good around large groups of people. I am not a very athletic person, but I am good at art. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! #college #art #extracurriculars #scholarships

Is it too late to be involved in extracurricular activities HS Junior Year?

I remember when I was just an upcoming freshman at my high school and I was eager to get involved with my school and the community around me. However... I'm getting more and more stressed out on one area where colleges/universities like to see in their applications: extracurriculars. I haven't been doing any extracurriculars, such as participating in clubs or doing volunteer work for almost 2 years. Right now I'm in the middle of my Sophomore year of high school and I feel I should've taken earlier action, and to think it would be weird to just participate in something all of a sudden in the middle of the school year when I should've just done so in the beginning. The thing is that I have been so caught up with my academics that I hardly considered time to do the activities I am passionate about or to even find out on more things that I could be interested in. I've also looked at the application process of the schools I want to get into and by the looks of it, it seems pretty complicating. My dream school is to go to UC Irvine but other schools are definitely worth considering. I just want to at least get into the UCs but the competitiveness is something I'm not ready to endure yet. #college-admissions #extracurriculars #uci
