How do I effectively balance my classes, extra-curricular activities, and new life as a freshman in college?
I plan on going into college optimistically, as I wish to make the most of my new path in life. However, starting an entirely new life in unfamiliar territory away from home, I wonder if there is a certain mindset or routine I could use to adapt to my new situation. I plan on taking rigorous classes pertaining to mathematics and computer science, while at the same time getting involved with new sports and volunteering opportunities regarding tutoring around campus. If I plan on getting immediately active, is there a way I can effectively balance the activities I want to do with the classes I will have to do without sacrificing sleep and sanity? #extracurriculars #work-life-balance

Is ROP or Academic Decathlon Team awesome for colleges?
Hey there! So I'm a freshman in highschool right now and I'm planning on joining the Academic Decathlon Team during the Spring. I'm really eager to join because I just adore academic competitions. I need help with my extracuricular activities!
Okay so highschool has started and I'm not apart of anything. I'm not in band, orchestra, sports team, theater or anything else. Club rush is coming up and I'm planning on joining a few clubs and being on the academic decathlon team. But, I feel like if I only join clubs in highschool the next four years then I'll suffer on my college applications. I don't enjoy sports at all and I don't play an instrument. I don't know what to do because I feel so lost and confused. Another concern that I have is that I feel like I'm behind compared to others. Like if I only join clubs and another person I'm competing against is on a sports team, in band, and apart clubs then they have a better chance in getting into a good school. #college #sports #school #college-admissions #extracurriculars #high-school-classes

What extracuricular activities/volunteering should I do in Highschool?
Hey there! So, I'm going to become a freshman in a few days and I'm really lost on what I should do with my extracuricular activities/volunteering. I'm not apart of a sports team because I do not enjoy sports like others. And I'm not apart of a program (AVID, Theater, Sport Teams, etc.). What I do know although is that I really want to join clubs such as the Red Cross Club, UNICEF, National Honors Society, etc. I also want to join the Academic Decathlon Team as well. I'm also planning on making my own club my sophomore year called Education is Not A Crime Club. I am also joining ROP Medical Classes offered at our school. But, I still feel like I'm not doing enough. I had a 4.0 GPA in both years of middle school with 3 honors classes (Language Arts, Social Studies, Science). I am also enrolled in Honors Language Arts, Spanish 2 Honors, and Biology Honors my Freshman year. Any tips on what I should do? #college #teacher #high-school #extracurriculars #student-clubs

With a busy after school schedule what are some things that stand out in college applications that are not school affiliated?
It's a well known fact that colleges look for many extracurricular activities while viewing an individual's application. At my school I am involved with the drama club and due to the intense schedule of productions, whenever I have free time in the year it is at an awkward time (only December, May, and June) and I cannot easily join clubs I had no affiliation with before. Seeing as I want to stand out on applications but cannot necessarily participate in clubs I want to, what sort of other activities also stick out to colleges? #college #extracurriculars #admissions #application #clubs
