How did you overcome moments when you wanted to give up, with the number of years of hard work required to become a doctor or work in the medical field,

I have always and still want to be a pediatrician or at least work with children in the medical field. I make sure to take classes and participate in activities that will further expand my passion for the future. The amount of work I put in now is only a dent compared to the overall hard work necessary to become a doctor. This makes me question if doctors have been through moments where they want to quit and if so, how did they overcome it.

How will I know that I’m enough to work along side professionals in the industry.

I’ve always feared that I will not have the knowledge or the innovation that others do which allow them to be such good workers at a company like NASA. Although it is wrong to be driven by such goals it has always pushed me to be my greatest self. My tenacity and grit has allowed me to keep up with the top of my class and I feel I’ll be able to continue until I reach my goals.

I don’t know… I am lost… What do I do? I’ve hit my all new low.

A few days ago I felt like I’ve hit my all new low… I don’t know what major to do in college nor do I have a interest in any majors or what college I want to go. Despite going on many college tours in-state (Massachusetts) and out of state, all of them stood out to me, but I cannot choose one because they have great benefits in different areas. In the end of the college searches none has really grabbed my interest, I just thought it was like High School 2.0 with harder classes and more responsibilities. Not only college have lacked my interest but my major and career goals. I’ve done some shadowing and summer programs over the summer to see what I like, but from business to working at a hospital, I did not feel that click or attachment in any of those fields. I also took a Real Estate class with a friend to see if I do like it, I do like it, but I don’t feel the drive or passion like the other programs/shadowing. I just feel lost about my future career or what I even want to do. What do I do? Should I take a gap year to further figure out? Or should I go into college undecided? I am open to any advise or comments.

I'm looking into going into accounting and finance, but don't have an idea of specifically what job I would want. When thinking about accounting, I think of sitting in an office all day and simply doing whatever it is you do for your company. Is the stress manageable or hard to handle?

What entry-level jobs will lead well into a social science research career?

What entry-level jobs will lead well into social science research jobs? I am finishing up my Bachelor's degree in Sociology and want to know what possible careers I could pursue to do a lot of good in the world. I always say I want to do research to influence public policy but I don't know what that would actually look like or if it would be effective. Eventually, I want to do things that will help leaders make positive changes in society.

When did you realize that the profession you're in/studying for is something you want to do for the rest of your life?

I've had a countless number of dreams as a kid including becoming a chef, a vet, an artist, etc. My hobbies and interests are constantly fluctuating and it can get in the way of my life sometimes. I recently discovered that I enjoy being around kids, and this has made me wonder if choosing a career in education is something that want to do. Specifically elementary education. (I do have experience doing community service in a kindergarten classroom.) What if I end up disliking my job as a teacher and this is just another one of my interests that happens to change? Can I get some advice, preferably from somebody who is a teacher? What was your experience like? :)
