Career Paths/Jobs that correlate to Associate in Science Degree?

I am currently in my second semester at Durham Tech getting my Associate's in Science and I have done some research on the jobs/careers I can get/attain from my degree but was wondering how would I go about not only finding a job that I would love to do, but how to search for the right one for me? AKA how to find internships, and how much work experience do I need?

How did you come to terms with/and find yourself WANTING to be in the medical field, despite the expectations of immigrant parents?

If you're a first-gen and you have immigrant parents who wanted you to become a doctor, how did you come to terms with/and find yourself wanting to be in the medical field, rather than just going into it because your parents told you?

Does certification improve my chances of getting into my top school?

I have 10 non-credit certifications from accredited universities like Stanford University, Harvard and USC universities, but I'm quite confused if they're really significant on college applications.

Which sectors/companies in the business field ask for grades, which don't?

Im new to the village and I have been reading posts about companies like the Big 4 Firms. There is responses that when hiring, they value class grades specifically in accounting. I was wondering how much importance goes to grades, and if there is any changes in different companies or sectors. The reason I am asking is because I go to a great school Uc Berkeley, but unfortunately it is very difficult for me and my grades aren't top notch. I come from schools in low income areas that didn't prepare me well for tests. I was smart in my community but here I feel under-qualified competing against the best. Don't get me wrong I learned sooo much in my first year. I'm just worried my grades won't be good enough for a job in the future. Any proffesionals out there who have gotten good jobs with "low" GPA's? Is it true grades matter that much in Business?

Am I making the right choice with my major?

My name is Briana and I am a college freshman. I have recently finished my first semester and am confused. I had previously asked about possible major options, and had thought I was sure, but there's all types of doubts that come up with each choice. I had talked with one of the career advisors on campus, and he more or less directed me with psychology like I had mentioned. Whenever I have the chance, I'll take a personality/career quiz that usually ends up with scientist or psychologist. Now i have and am still considering psychology as a possible career, but I feel, and my mom has noticed too, that it may be a means of obsessing over past events (i.e. bullying). Considering my "experiences", is it healthy for me to continue focusing on something through these means? Aside from money and interest, my second option may be related to math, engineering, and art. Before I choose my classes for the next semester, I will talk with a counselor about any future plans. All I ask from anyone responding is a new perspective regarding if I'm being too emotional in what should be a rational decision. Thank you to anyone who responds and I wish you all happy holidays! #engineering #psychology #college-major #mathematics #japan #animation #choosing-a-major #computer-animation #first-generation

What do I do if I suspect that one of my parents is unsupportive of me going to college?

As a current high school graduate, I'm looking forward to starting off at my community college this fall. I finished registration and got my financial aid straightened out, and FAFSA looks like It could really help me. During my spare time< I scroll online for any scholarships that could help. One night, I showed my mom what FAFSA could help me with, but she only focused on the EFC and how I mentioned that it outlines a recommended family contribution. Being brutally honest, she told me "Your dad expects the government to help you with everyhing and still wishes that you woud be working instead. Even though as parents, we both should support you, especially in something like this." Keep in mind, I will be the first in my family to go to college. I'm just not sure why he would expect me to work, when he knows I want to do better than whats happening right now. He, himself, once showed me one of his pay stubs with his annual income and told me to try and make double that in the future. Simply put, I would like some advise to help me explain to him that it may be difficult, but not impossible to make the effort. Thank you to anyone who responds. #college #psychology #teaching #financial-aid #community-college #first-generation

How does one become an expert in their field of work? (Maybe provide specific tips!)

As college students, we recognize that we must be distinguishable in our field, but many of us, especially those who are first-generation college students, are unsure of how to do so. Please expand on what individuals can do to become more experienced other than doing internships and working in their field of choice! #career #mathematics #careers #expert #first-generation
