Could I make my passion my career?

Ok so I am currently 16 and I have always loved music and had a secret dream become a singer but only to preform, not to become famous or anything. Anyways over the years my thoughts about music have been taken over by school but when I was 14 I discovered Broadway, and my passion is stronger than ever. I have been told that I have a talent for singing and acting and that I'm good at dancing (I have a nice voice and I cant make very clear and expressive facial expressions). But I never believed them because I always tell myself "it's not enough, its not enough to peruse a career". Yet it is still my dream and I am still motivated to make it a reality. I have started vocal classes, I plan to (and hope to) go to the Boston conservatory for musical arts if I get in (even though I will have to cover myself financially), I do multiple musical theater classes and I am planning to continue this and expand my capacity. However deep down I still have that thought that I wont make it. That I'm not good enough and it is a hard and risky career. My parents believe that as well. My father always supported me but he said that I have almost no chance of making Broadway (btw he has never seen me preform). Not only that but I live internationally meaning I have to move to a different continent (which I have no problem with but still). I have days where I truly believe that it will always stay a dream and other days where I believe that I can do it. I would love to get someone else's opinion, if they believe you need pure talent to get into the musical industry of if it is a mix of hard work and talent. What do you think? Could I make it with only motivation, passion and hard work ? #music #career #art #future

Would a major in Strategic Communications with a Business minor or a major in Marketing be best for a career in business?

I'm ending my second year in college and am having trouble with my major. I haven't necessarily decided on one yet. I'm deciding if I should do Strategic Communications with a Business minor or apply to the business school and do Marketing. I'm planning on applying no matter what but I would have to decide which route to take by July 2020 (when I would find out if I got into the business school or not). If I go with marketing, I would definitely have to do another year of college and would be behind/may struggle in difficult classes. If I do strategic communications, I would be on track for 4 years but still be catching up. My future career interests seem to center around the business world and I see myself best with the marketing area. I don't have a good idea of what exactly I want to do, but I want to be involved with business. This being said, which would be the best major route for me to pursue? #business #marketing #college-major #college #entrepreneur #major #communications #comm #stratcomm #career #future #college-major

How do companies view military service?

When hiring, do companies view military service as a good or bad thing? If it it a good thing, what branch looks best? Marines, Army, Army National Guard, Air Force, Air National Guard, Navy, Coast Guard? And does it look better to have been an enlisted or officer? (I'm guessing the best combination is Air Force Officer) #military #any #army #pilot #navy #coast-guard #aviation #marine #marines #college #career #major #technology #hiring #future #company #corporate

As technology is advancing at an alarming rate, what are the drawbacks that future students will face?

Technology has been incorporated more into our daily lives, especially in school. For the future generation of students, what will be missed? For example, will handwriting skills decrease? Will more expose to blue light affect their eyes? Will there be less genuine interactions between student and teacher, and instead have more screen time? There is no absolute answer; I just want to hear your thoughts! Thank you for your time. #tech #technology #teaching #future #computer #school #computer-engineering #engineering

In a world of growing technology; do you think help desk positions will still exist in 30 years?

Defining help desk as tier 1 support. solving issues users "SHOULD" be trained to troubleshoot and solve themselves, but for whatever reason they can not. If the issue goes beyond tier 1; help desk would create said ticket and route accordingly. To me; this sounds like it can all be accomplished by AI. AI is going to play a big part in the future of the IT world. Will it play such a large role as to start taking over those that tech support for users? There would of course need to be someone onsite to physically install computers; unless said company is using thin clients; then the thin client, mouse, keyboard, ect could just be mailed to the user to set up themselves; which can all be plug and play. #tech #AI #future #technology #computer-science #business
