How do I know what I want to be in the future?

When people ask me what I want to be when I grow up, I have no answer for them. Which makes me think, I have had 14 years to think and decide what I want to be but I still have no idea what I would want to do. #future

Linguistic majors with bachelor's degrees, what struggles did you face once you tried to enter the workforce?

I'm considering pursuing a Linguistics major for my BA. I've read that it's quite hard to get a job unless you also have Computer Science minor/double major paired with Linguistics, which isn't quite my plan, though I'm considering pairing Linguistics with CS if it becomes clear that pursuing Linguistics alone is worthless. So, for those who have majored in Linguistics, what are some future struggles to be aware of? Is Linguistics worth pursuing if I don't get involved with Computer Science? #college #bachelors #Computer Science #CSMajor #LingusticsMajor #BA #CS #Linguistics #struggles #work #future #job #major #in #linguistics

Should I look more into pursuing my education in another country?

I don't have an EXACT major that I have in mind, but I do know the field I wish to go into, but there aren't many schools in the United States that have the education I'm looking for. I want to study mythologies/folklore, but there aren't many schools who offer this schooling in the US, but they do in Europe! Would it be better if I were to study over there or should I focus on finding something in the US? #career, #majors , #future , #studying-abroad

It seems as though more an more influential people in the tech field are showing support to online studies as a legitimate replacement to traditional studies. If medicine improves and allows people to live much longer lives, how will we provide for everyone?

As medical technology improves, people live longer, healthier lives. Anti-aging technologies are getting better and better. If people start regularly living to 100 or longer, or if human life is extended even further beyond natural limits, how we provide for everyone? How will people in my generation flourish if people currently in their 20s 30s, 40s, and 50s never retire, and keep working indefinitely? How will my generation support and care for a massive population of elderly people? #technology #future #medicine #career

If many jobs in the future (perhaps MOST jobs) will be replaced by machines and Artificial Intelligence, what should we be studying in college?

I read Kurt Vonnegut's "Player Piano" as well as several of his short stories that depict a future in which all "jobs" have been eliminated - machines do everything. The people who have meaningful work find their life has less meaning. They ask, "What are humans FOR?" So, I wonder what students should be studying now to prepare for a future in which many jobs we take for granted - from Uber Driver to Accountant to Teacher to Doctor - could be replaced by a more efficient, lower-cost computer. #future-careers #future #creativity #job #job-search #job-coaching #technology

How do I find my passion?

I plan on majoring in Computer Science next fall. I find this subject interesting and like learning about all subjects in school (math, English, science, etc), but I am not sure what I am passionate about any of these things. Some people want to change the world through politics or help those in need and are guided by their love for these things in their career. I enjoy subjects, but my interest is only due to curiosity and not love or motivation. I am also a musician, and I find when I write songs I can't think of any lyrics. I can write tunes, but there are no feelings to guide the songwriting process. Any thoughts? #carrier #future

Do I live life to satisfy myself, or to satisfy my family?

There are family members who choose a career for a child, while there are others who trust their children to choose their own career as long as they are happy. But what happens when a child chooses a career and their family is not satisfied with the choice? And so they don't support or accept the child's career path. What does the child do then even though family is very important to her/him? Does he/she continue believing in themselves and pursue their dreams or try to make their parents understand them. #family #happiness #career-choice #future
