How easy is it to major in music and minor in graphic arts in most colleges?

I will have a much better chance of getting into colleges and getting scholarships in music than in graphic arts. I have been playing trumpets since 3rd grade and I am pretty good. But, I don't wan't to be a performer for a living; my long term goal is graphic arts. #trumpet #music #graphic-design #musicscholarships #graphic-designer

Does one need to be good at drawing to pursue a career in graphic design?

Even though I don't plan on pursuing a career in the graphic design field, this has always been a question of curiosity. I'm taking a communications technology course where we look at graphic design, and our teacher said that you don't need to know how to draw at all. Rather, you just need to know how to communicate effectively and know how to utilize the tools properly. Any input would be appreciated. #graphic-design #art #design #graphic-designer #career

What should you be prepared for as a freelance artist fresh out of college?

This could apply to architecture, fine arts, graphic design, or anything similar. I know at this point in my life that I wish to do something with art. What originally discouraged me from making this decision was the "starving artist" trope. Many people assume that artists can't make a living when they obviously can. However, I do understand that, along with any other profession, there may be some initial difficulty actually finding a job. As an artist, what other kinds of situations should one prepare themselves for? #art #artist #fine-art #graphic-designer #preparation

How do I get a job in graphic design that focuses more on illustration?

I am in my third year of college with a major in graphic design and a minor in marketing. I would like to focus more on digital illustration rather than logo or web design. Going into the graphic design field, is it better to be an expert in one design area or be a beginner in all design areas?

Going into the graphic design industry, I want to better understand if I want to be hired if I should focus on one aspect of design to improve my skills or try all areas of design but not further improving past beginner stage. For companies hiring, who would they hire in this situation: the one who's an expert in one area, but not in everything or the one who isn't an expert in one area, but knows beginner expertise in all areas? #graphic-design #graphic-designer

What are some simple jobs that I could have, (before I start/finish college) that have to do with graphic design?

So I'm looking for an entry-level job that has to do with graphic design. I don't know what jobs I should be looking for. I probably want to be a motion graphic designer, so if there's a simple job related to that somehow that would be preferable. Thanks for the future responses. #graphic-design #design #art #computer #graphic-designer
