Majors as pre-med?

So I'm going to be a freshman in college this upcoming year, and I am majoring in dietetics. I am really interested in health and medicine especially when it is food related. I love the idea of being a dietitian, but I don't think that it will be challenging enough for me to be happy. I especially am interested in endocrine problems, but don't want to overwhelm myself. As I said, I'm majoring in dietetics but will be doing a two year internship while in college to become a registered dietitian and experience clinical work while taking classes; however, I also will be completing this in three years instead of four (since I already have 47 credits from dual enrolled classes in high school). I almost think that doing research as a doctor or being an endocrinologist would be the best fit for me, but I also want to learn as much as I can about dietetics. This would be extremely fast paced and am not sure if I would be better off to full on commit to one or the other? #doctor #science #medicine #health #nutrition

Is there an area of pharmacy where you help people decrease or stop taking prescriptions by making lifestyle changes?

I am a HUGE advocate for individual healthy lifestyle management rather than fixing problems with a #pill. My #dream is to help people become their own health advocates. I want to teach people lifestyle modifications including #nutrition, #physical activity, and managing medications. I believe certain #prescriptions are over-prescribed and some maintenance medications can be avoided with lifestyle changes. I know it sounds backwards to be a pharmacist reducing medications, but that is my passion especially working in a pharmacy for almost 3 years not and seeing the effects in our society today. #lifestyle #management #health #healthadvocate #publichealth #pharmacy #pharmacist #society #rx #medication #health care #medications #medicine

Hi! What specific things (about college, housing, life, etc.) should we know before to college? What courses are we required to take to be able to major in nursing (to become a registered nurse)? What are your tips for thriving in college?

HI!!! College can obviously be overwhelming, especially for people who's family members never went to college before (and they get a lot of pressure from their family to succeed!). How do you keep calm while still doing great academically? Also, I'm really passionate about learning how the human body and health so I really want to work in the medical field! When I was still living in ethnic minority areas of Myanmar, I saw many people get sick or die because of the lack of basic necessities, cleanliness, wars, and injuries from wars. There were barely any clinics there and the clinics that were there weren't very advanced (so many who had somewhat of a major injury died although if they lived in the US, they could easily be cured). After college and nurse training, I want to start working to help people get the basic health care they need. Even I don't make a huge difference, I believe that every bit counts. After a few years of practice, I'm planning to return to my native country and village (and go to developing countries) to help people in poverty get the basic necessities and health care that they need. :) #HEALTH #Love #Compassion #medicine #HealthyRealFood #CleanWater #CleanShelter #College #WorkSmartAndWorkHard #THANKYOU
