What non-academic skills are needed for those interested in becoming medical doctors?

We all know that people who go into medicine are the best of the best when it comes to academics, but I am interested in what other skills define a medical doctor and how these traits come into play in the day-to-day life of a doctor. #doctor #medicine #science #healthcare #health #researcher #job-skills

When is a suitable time to start searching for Physcian Assistant schools?

After doing some research I noticed that the requirements for Physician Assistant programs vary a lot according to the instituiton, unlike many other health professional schools. Does that mean it would be more beneficial and time efficient for me to start narrowing down schools earlier during my undergraduate? Or is it more reasonable to wait until I get closer to applying to schools? #health #pre-med #graduate-school #physicians-assistant #pre-medicine #hospital-and-health-care

What exactly is a public health coordinator?

I met with a public health nurse a few weeks ago to talk about birth control. I asked her how she got to be doing what she did, and I found her answer very interesting. I would LOVE to educate people about proper sex education (STI's, different types of birth control, consent, gender & sexuality, etc.). She said I might like to become a public health coordinator. What does a PHC do, and what would I have to major in to become one if I'm interested? I don't want to go to nursing school (can't afford it, not into medicine), but I don't want to be a teacher either. What do you advise that I do? #career #college-major #nurse #health #college-advice #career-advice #public-health #public-health-coordinator

My first question is on the programs for nursing, I know every college is different with requirements and courses, but how exactly does the beginning for college classes look to the end typically! My next question is, in that time of school, how rigorous

Hello! I really love to help care for others and love a fast paced work environment! I've been working at a Scripps Encinitas hospital. I also work at a cupcake store and as a lifeguard, camp counselor, & swim instructor at the wave waterpark! I have always wanted to be a nurse for the NICU or ER, and have a few questions. #nursing #health #pre-med #nurse-practitioner

How do you balance being a doctor and your normal life?

Hi, I am a sophomore in high school and I want to be an OB/GYN when I finish college. I just want to know how easy it is to juggle work and home when doing a demanding job like this. It isn't like any other job, as I already know, but I want to know how to balance the two. I want to see how to manage your personal life and career when doing this job to get the most enjoyable experience possible. #health #obstetrics #women #gynecology

How many hours of Residency is required for MDV following Med School?

My plan is to attend Med School for either a Physician/Surgeon specializing in Neurology or I may plan to go to Veterinary Medical School. My concern is the number of years/hours that are required in residency for General Surgery are much more challenging than those that my be required for Veterinary Med School. The answers here may help determine the focus area that I am planning on pursuing. #college #career #medicine #healthcare #health #veterinary

Besides obtaining my Bachelors, what other steps can I take now to make myself more attractive to a PA program?

I am a graduating high school senior and have just determined which career path I want to follow, which is that of a Physician Assistant. I discovered that PA would be a good fit for me as a result of a career class at my local community college. However, I have no history or experience in any related fields, and I feel that I am a little behind. (I have friends with similar goals that have been volunteering at hospitals and clinics for years.) I will be attending college in the fall to receive a Bachelors in Health Science, but I am hoping for a few suggestions as to what options and opportunities I have to gain more experience and knowledge. Thank you! #career #healthcare #health #physician #hospital-and-health-care

While Worcester State University has treated me well, it is not regarded as a school with a "big" name. I am pursuing a Master in Health Care Industry, a degree WSU offers as a 2 year program. Should I transfer to get the "big" name, or stay at WSU?

Sophomore at Worcester State Univeristy. Majors: Business Administration and Visual Art. Eventual Masters Degree for Health Care Industry. Employment: Intern at UMass Medical Center: Diabetes Center of Excellence. I am asking this question because I do realize that a career in health care is a fine choice considering the Industy is presently booming, however I have concerns about when the massive wave of baby boomers is no longer contributing to its growth. I have been working in the field since I was a volunteer at the hospital at 15 years old. I love working in the hospital, and while I am not too interested in the medical sciences, there are ample business opportunities that I am extremely interested in. My academic records show a history of excellence and determination. I am prepared to embark on this rigorous pursuit for higher education and in doing so, would like to be fully informed on the TRUE potential for the health care industry. #medicine #healthcare #health #medicare #healthcare-industry #global-health #health-policy #medicine-terminology
