What are some tips/tricks that you have used to improve your social skills/speech skills when dealing with clients/customers? Do you believe experience is best when it comes to improving speech/social skills for a career? Personal practice? Both?
I know social skills are very important when it comes to the career path that I want to follow; however, I am somewhat lacking in social skills. In discussion with a more professional context I have some difficulties, specifically interviews. This question pertains as much to a career as any question about study methods or career choices. #human-resources #social-work #skills #social-worker #job-skills #social-skills

How do I make sure to put my degree to use one I graduate college?
I will be attending Fresno State in the fall, but have been taking community college classes during my senior year in high school. I plan on getting my Bachelor's degree in Busniess Administration: Human Resource Management. However, many of the people I have told my degree to have told me of people they know who have the same degree. None of those people are actually in a career where they use the degree. One works at an insurance company and the other is jobless. I want to be able to put the degree I worked for to go to use, not just hang on a wall as proof I went and graduated from college. #human-resources
Is it ever appropriate to ask your interviewer why you were rejected for a job, so that you can improve next time?

If the career you're passionate about doesn't make a lot of money for this area, should you switch careers or consider doing something else?
Hi! My name is Anina and I'm a high school senior interning at CareerVillage. One of my best friends used to want to be a certain career- until they read a list online that declared his area of choice as one of the "top 10 lowest paying jobs". He immediately changed his mind to marketing and business, even though he really loved the other area. Was he in the right to worry about his finances? Should he have taken the risk of having a low-paying job? If you currently have a low-paying job that gives you more enjoyment than a higher-paying job would, how did you decide to do what you wanted (instead of what paid the bills)? Full disclosure: he wanted to be an architect, but I am looking for a more general perspective. #business #career #finance #human-resources

People say that figuring out what job you should do or even which industry you should work in is the hard part, but what about once you have? How do you choose what companies to apply at? What did you look for in a company? I am now at the stage where I'm looking for internships at tech companies that I will put on my resume and I don't want to make a mistake working for a company I don't enjoy being at or that doesn't help my chances of getting a job in technology out of school in the future. #technology #human-resources
