How should I approach companies for internships?

I am in a High School program that requires an internship by the end of senior year. I was wondering how I would approach companies to possibly land an internship in companies( I am leaning towards engineering companies). I would graciously appreciate it if anyone could explain what should I include in my email, how can I formulate my email to assure that someone will give me a response, and any other details that I should know when asking companies about internships. #engineering #internships #mechanical-engineering #electrical-engineering

What do you do if you're a senior in college and you still don't know what you want to do with your degree?

I have a bachelor's of science degree in psychology. I'm pretty hesitant about getting my masters for a couple of reasons. For one, I don't know what I want. And two, it's really expensive. I've looked at a lot of jobs, but nothing in this field is really catching my eye. I love to do research and would love to work as a lab assistant. #psychology #internships #clinical-psychology #internship #hospital #life-coach #clinical-research

How do I prepare for interview for an Intership?

I am a junior in college have been applying to summer internships and recently heard back from one that I am very interested in. They want to schedule an interview. I have never had an internship and while I am not under qualified, I'm sure there will be applicants with more experience. That being said, I am confident that I have what it takes to contribute meaningfully as an intern, but I think a convincing interview would really help. The interview may be over skype or in person, not sure if that changes anything. I also don't have a lot of businessy clothes so I will have to go shopping for those and honestly don't where to start as far as what to wear to an interview for an internship with a senator. Any thoughts? I know generally what sort of questions to expect, but I'd like to hear from people who have experienced it. Any questions I should give more thought to? are there nay standard questions? How different is it from a job interview? (I know it depends on the job but generally speaking) Are there any things that I should not mention? #college #career #internships #career-path #interviews #interviewing-skills #summer-internship #confidence

Does a lack of summer internship threaten you're success in applications after graduation?

A summer internship during college is highly coveted but obtaining one is highly competitive and very difficult. Thus, by not having one in your second year of university, are you jeopardising post-university plans? Or will finding an alternative job or volunteering role be as useful? #college #university #internships #student #graduate #graduate-recruitment

When employers list a specific GPA requirement, is it final?

I ask this because I am a electrical engineering major and I don't have a 3.0 GPA, which seems to be the threshold for most companies looking to hire college students. I would like to apply for most companies but I do not meet this requirement. I want to note that I usually don't meet this requirement and about two or three more, an my GPA is not even close to a 3.0. Does this requirement automatically disqualify me from the position or should I apply regardless of my GPA? Thank you. #computer-science #internships #tech #entry-level #java

What do you wear to an interview?

I have a few interviews coming up in the following two weeks, and I'm not entirely sure what I should wear to it. I was planning on wearing dress shirt, a tie, khakis, and dress shoes, but I'm afraid it might be too informal. I'm not sure if I will be afford a suit or where I would be able to get one. That being said, should I try to get a suit, or would my current attire be okay? Thanks in advance! #college #career #internships #interviews #recruiting

How valuable are internships, really?

I have the opportunity to be an intern at the Cleveland Clinic - a Laboratory Medicine internship. I'm hoping to someday be either a Geneticist or a Research Scientist in Biology, so you can see how this internship is relevant. Also, I hope to go to Case Western Reserve University, so this internship could open many doors for me. The problem I have, though, is transportation. I do not have my license yet, and as one of a large family, my mom is unable to drive me around sometimes, because of the needs of many younger siblings. So I wonder: Is this internship worth it? If it would be a hassle to get there and back? Or is it maybe not of such importance - something I could do without? I'm very unsure and welcome any and all feedback! #internships #student #first-job
