What is the best way to approach a veterinarian regarding job-shadowing?

Most veterinarian practices that I have run into or researched do not have a student program which allows for internships or volunteering--they are simply medical practices. However, shadowing a vet can give great insight into deciding if the vet-path is a good career path for a student and most schools require x number of hours of vet-shadowing. How can I approach vets about shadowing? Is cold calling a good idea? Emailing? Also, how can you negotiate shadowing for a long period of time (months, rather than just one weekend)? #internships #veterinarian #veterinary #volunteering #veterinary-medicine #volunteer #work-shadowing #shadowing

What are some reliable sources to find internships?

Lately, I've been trying to find some internships because it is one of the closest ways a high school student can truly understand the real world and what career one wants to pursue. It is really easy to search things up on Google, but I'm not sure if it is reliable. I personally would love to do something with writing, photography, cinema, history, literature, and during the summer, I'm completely open to traveling. I'm also open to being an assistant to someone or work for a larger company. Honestly, I think this is one of the best ways to explore the real world to see what I do and do not like as well as create connections that can last a lifetime. I'm just not sure where to look. #career #internships #career-path #job-search #internship #career-development #intern #creative-internship

What's more cost effective- minimum wage in an area with low cost of living, or an internship in a high cost area?

I'm trying to figure out what to do with my summer, with the knowledge that I have to pay for my own housing and all my living expenses. I'm a college freshman, so the internship probably wouldn't pay me too much more than a regular minimum wage job. Another possible option would be to stay in college as a summer RA, which would cover my room and board, and also give me $200/week. #finance #internships #money #summer-jobs

Do job recruiters actually contact all the references I give them?

I have had many small jobs over the summer, including lifeguarding and camp counselor. Many of my bosses in those jobs probably would not have much to say about me and I think that some of my professors at school or my swim coach would be better references. But they are not my boss and I have never worked under them. How do I handle that situation? #internships #job-search #web-applications #reference

What are some ways of getting experience in Computer Science (an internship) before college without having prior knowledge on how to code and other sorts of knowledge relevant in the field?

I'm currently in 12th grade and looking for internships but a majority require some knowledge and usually require you to already have a Bachelors. I'm trying to get experience before I enter college and is hard to do so I'll have a better understanding as I take the Computer Science course. #computer-science #technology #internships

How likely is it I will get an internship as a first year student?

I am a first year, undeclared student and I am looking for internship opportunities for the summer. I live in an area where there are many opportunities for internships but that means many students travel to the area in order to apply. I a specifically looking for internship opportunities in nonprofit and advocacy groups. I assumed I would be able to get an internship but after talking to some students slightly older than I am I learned that companies tend not to hire students unless they are juniors or seniors in college. #internships #nonprofits #freshmen #advocacy

Interships which ones are right for you?

Hi , my name is Demetrio i'm a current undergad student at devry university im majoring in Network systems Administrator and would like to express some useful thought to those who dont have a clue about how to gain experience in your field that will be suitable in the future so, If you're a college student and wish to pursue your career further what are some places you might attend to gain experience? Well Basically if you're looking for experience a good way is to look for specific intern ships that are relevant to your field, such as it is always a good idea to get entry level jobs that post to your career as a stepping stone. So to add to that i would also like to mention that getting certified in things that are relevant to your field helps a lot to get your foot in the door, from what i heard most companies only care if you posses such certification without always asking what you know about it. So some things to look at are , in indeed for internships or even events that could allow you to network with people in your field. #college #internships #network #entrylevel #engineering #administrators #networking

Is taking a semester off for an internship a good choice?

As part of my school's Accounting and Taxation Honor Program, there is a requirement to take the winter semester of our senior year off for an internship. This internship will give me an insight into the accounting field as well as possibly landing me a job after college. All my financial aid will be intact and still there, but a lot of people are telling me it is not worth taking a leap semester. They said it will be better if I finished my education first and look for internships during the summer on my own. If you are in my shoe, how will you go about this decision? #accounting #career-counseling #internships #career-choice #career-path #accountant #career-development #school-counseling

What are some ways in which I can get some in-field experience while still working on my major?

I'm a high school senior and I know that, unfortunately, some graduates don't know what to do, or don't have the experience to start working in their desired field after college. So they take a part time job and just waste time because, even though they have a degree, they don't have any actual experience which is what companies are looking for.
