How could I possibly shadow or contribute to my mentoring?

I have found a mentor that is a professor and a social worker with her own practice. When we first met we discussed things I could do, such as research and just asking questions in general, one of her suggestions was to shadow, but we were both concerned about the ethical dilemmas that would form as I am a highschool student although I do dual psychology classes at college which technically made me a college student. Many college students shadow professionals in the mental health field because they are studying that field, would this make it more acceptable if I were to shadow my mentor while obviously following HIPAA laws, ethical concerns, and getting the patients okay.

What does it take to double major?

Hi, I am currently a sophomore high school student that is also minoring in psychology and will be earning my associates in 2025-2026. I am looking to double major in psychology and sociology. I'm not the greatest in statistics or maths so I am comprehending whether or not I should double major in psychology or just stick with sociology. Starting my associates has shined a light on how demanding (time-wise) college coursework can be. I deal with mental health problems like Bipolar disorder, and other issues that make it hard to stay on track sometimes, and can easily lead to burnout. When it comes to work, I always have the habit of prioritizing work first, and then my mental health (this has been something I've been working on recently). With a double major, I understand that I will possibly have less time to do certain things, like working, which would put me into a deep hole of financial instability. And there is the possibility of my mind and body giving out. If I do decide to double major, is there anything I can do to lessen the rate of these risks? If you have double majored, can you tell me a bit how you schedule things like working, and time for yourself?

What is the difference between Psychology and Psychiatry and how can this difference be a deciding factor in my career?

I'm interested in the mental health aspect of people and I really like listening to people and helping them. To my knowledge, both of these studies deal with helping people and their mental issues however I want to know which one is really about listening, giving advice, and being there to help.

In clinical psychology, what is the best way to approach a client who is struggling internally? Was there ever a situation in which you didn't know how to respond to something a client told you? If so, how did you handle it?

I'm interested in learning more about clinical psychology and its practices, but I noticed that I freeze up whenever someone close to me tells me about mental illnesses or issues that they have been going through. In these sorts of situations, I want to support them and make them feel better, but I'm not sure what to do.

I have really good internship offers for the medical field, but Im really only interested in the Mental Health field, does anyone have any recommendations to what I should do?

Hi, Currently I am a highschool student who is also minoring in psychology at community college and plans to double major in psychology and sociology, then earn a masters in social work, recently I was presented the opportunity to be inscribed with the Congress of Future Medical Leaders Award of Excellence, which is a two day national academy of future physicians congress meeting that will also allow me to be featured on local TV stations and newspapers. The problem being that I'm not interested in the medical field as a future career path. If I were able to pass this over to someone else, I would but I can't. This would be a really big opportunity to put myself out there, and it would look really good on college applications, and on my academic profile, but it doesn't have anything that I inherently want for my future career path, and it also might look weird on my college applications.

What are some good colleges (US) to look into in order to pursue a degree in psychology?

Psychology is extremely interesting to me and I think a career in the field could very well be a good fit for me. What are some colleges in the US that offer good psychology programs? How does a psychologist compare and contrast to a psychiatrist?

I do know the education requirements and salaries are different, but what about the actual tasks? Can they both diagnose mental disorders or is that only the job of one? Can psychiatrists offer talk therapy in addition to medication, or do they just prescribe the meds? Which would be more direct in helping people through their mental illnesses?
