How can someone start their career in music composition as a novice composer?

I am a student in high school taking AP theory and other music classes. I really want to have a career in composing music, whether it be game OSTs, movie scores, or even just those silly songs in the background of advertisements. The problem is, I have no idea how to get into the industry. Like do I just find a place and apply like a normal job? Or do people have to contact me? (and how do I get them to?) If you have any answers or resources, it'd be highly appreciated πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ».

What is the best lighting options for stopmotion?

I have done a few stop motion projects, but I can never seem to find the sweet spot when it comes to lighting, and I'm looking to improve and see what I can do to give them the "realistic" look, without taking away all shadows. Any advice on what would be the best?

How important is college in my situation?

I'm going to try to keep this post short.... movies are my life. I've wanted to make films ever since I was a little kid. I can't see myself doing anything else. I'm currently a freshman at a community college. I'm currently building up my credit and saving up to pay for school. My parents can't pay for it, or cosign a loan for me. I'm the oldest of 9 kids, and my dad works a blue-collar job. They also said if they could pay for my school, they wouldn't because I'm a Film major. They don't believe in my dream. I have to do it all on my own-i kind of like it that way anyway. I've been working nonstop trying to save up, but I'm still not even close. Is college even necessary to work in the film industry? My parents keep telling me I will fail without a college degree. Academics aren't something I'm really good at. I'm a creative person. My problem is that I'm from a rural town in pennsylvania. There aren't many opportunities to work in film (or study it) in Pa. I'm planning on moving to New York City to work. I'm prepared to work odd jobs until I get my big break. NYC colleges are really expensive, and I don't know what to do. Can I succeed with an associate's degree? Or film certificate? Does anyone have any advice? I don't know who to ask. Do I need a degree to be successful? I have a hard time putting my ego aside. I don't want to see everyone else get a degree, and and go to college, but I can't. Any advice? #film #Film #film-school #movie-production #actor #college-major #college-advice #college-bound #associates-degree #cinematography #independent-films

Is it really as hard to find a well-paid career in art as it sounds?

Art is something that I enjoy, but I keep getting the impression that an artists live off ramen noodles and paint water. Concept art, graphic design, and traditional art are what interest me most. Will it be years before I get considered to join something like Marvel or Disney, or is it just down to luck? #art #artist #movie-production #graphic-design #design #conceptual-art

I like writing, filming, critiquing and writing reviews on movies, what job should I pursue?

I love writing stories and making videos. I love watching movies and reviewing them. I want to pursue something that allows me to work with movies but I've never taken an official film course in high school and will be starting college next year. What are some careers I can look at? I don't really know what directing or producing or anything entails so I don't want to go in with a false perception. #motion-pictures-and-film #film #film-making #film-production #writing #movies #movie-production #college

Any advice about following your dreams in the entertainment industry?

I'm in need for some advice. Ever since I was little, i knew I wanted to make music and movies. I've been playing the piano since I was 5, and the guitar since I was 8. I've been creating home movies since I was really young. Movies and music are my greatest passions. They make me who I am. I've been working 2 jobs in order to save up to move to Los Angeles. I'm about to start my 3rd job (on the weekends) in order to save even more money. I work about 55-60 hours a week. I'm exhausted, but I want to achieve my dreams more than anything. I can't see myself doing anything else. Any advice? #film-acting #singers-career #entertainment #motion-pictures-and-film #movie-production #performing-arts
