A teacher switching careers here! What are keywords, or specific careers, that a teacher can use to help navigate looking for work in the non-teaching education field?

I have 4+ years experience teaching within a K-2 classroom. I was a grade team leader for 1 of those years and currently an instructional grade team leader which means I'm in charge of the development of 2 teachers, as well as a classroom of students. I'm passionate about all things education such as: educational research, community growth, educational pedagogy, educational policy, educational advocacy, educational material/content development, educational sales, etc. I'm usually the high energy, hard working teammate or leader that likes to bring excitement and passion to the workplace. I'm very sociable and find it enjoyable to make partnerships with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders that are invested in improving education. I believe it's time to leave the classroom and venture out into other aspects of education and beyond. With that said, I'm looking for advice on keywords, or specific careers, to help navigate the convoluted field of education that I would love to continue to explore and make an impact.

I'm founding a startup, but I'm not sure if I want it to be a nonprofit, not-for-profit, or for-profit. Should I figure this out before registering as a business?

I'm based in New York State, and I'm planning to hire a lawyer to do the paperwork. But I don't want to do any fundraising until I have a bank account (which requires an EIN). Do I need to decide on a profit model before registering? Any advice is helpful - I'm new to the startup world!

What are the best business models for building a dynamic and scalable non-profit

Since 2003, I've provided financial planning services to Indian tribes, advising on both personal and tribal policies such as budgets, taxation, risk management (insurance), investments and legacy (estate) planning. In my professional experience, clients who stayed with me were able to improve their credit, get out of debt and start saving for a home or start a business. My vision for the Native Finance Development Corporation, 501(c)3, is to use a generalist in-person at each tribe to gather information from clients and have a subject expert via teleconference to resolve the issues. Then, on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis, my team will provide coaching to support healthy spending habits and develop vital tribal economy. My goal is to create an organization that can support and distribute these services across Indian Country. Which are the best business models for me to study? #business #business-development #nonprofits

How to have a board that can attract $500,000 capital for a non-profit start up

I've been accepted at Harvard's joint bachelor's and master's program in management for the summer of 2018. Since 2003, I've had a financial planning practice with Indian Tribes. My goal at Harvard is to learn best practices, so I can transition my practice into a sustainable and scalable non-profit organization, the Native Finance Development Corporation, for Indian Country. When funded, I will develop an online and in-person platform to provide financial education, debt resolution, savings and affordable loans to the tribal communities. Initially, I intend to leverage my relationship with existing client tribes. I've already submitted for establishment of my 401(c)3 with the IRS. In early March, 2018, I applied for certification as a Native American Community Development Finance Institution. I have a business plan. Over the next four years, I will attend Harvard full-time while developing the IT and human resources and training aspects of the non-profit. What would be the most effective and efficient way to develop this board? #business #business-development #nonprofits
