Is psychology a good choice of career?
Hey! Let me tell you a bit about myself. I like helping people A LOT. Understanding and empathizing with people are my dominant qualities. I like learning about human behaviour and cognitive functions. When I'm in a group, I can really absorb the feeling of others, I know when someone is uncomfortable, insecure, troubled etc . it comes to me naturally. But I am not sure if psychology has much scope in the future, or if it is a job that people look up to. (I am also a big people pleaser. I know, I'm not proud of it. Sorry!) What career options are there for economics majors?
I am studying economics at Brown; I really like how economic thinking can solve problems, but I am not a huge fan of math (I do not plan to take any beyond statistics and Calc II which are required). I am very interested in public policy, but more from an applied microeconomics view (rather than macro policy). I'm not super interested in finance/consulting/business, but I haven't ruled it out. I think teaching and research would be super cool, but I know getting an economics Phd is a lot of math. In terms of applying to graduate school, would my chances for admission be higher with a Master's degree?
I am a psychology major and graduating in the Fall of 2025. I've been looking to clinical psychology PhD programs, but some programs don't require a Master's degree for admission. However, I don't know if that would make me less competitive when applying. If I could avoid 2-3 additional years of paying for school I would love that, but I don't know if my chances would be better with more schooling. Any advice would be great!

What are the top skills I need as a biology major looking to go into grad school/academic research?
I am currently a sophomore in college majoring in biology. Now that I am soon entering the second half of my undergraduate education, I am starting to think more about my career plans. My goal after I graduate is to go to grad school for my phd. Besides internships and lab experience, what else would you advise I do or learn to prepare?
Should I pursue a senior project that exposes me to a new area of physics or one that is more in line with what I believe I'll want to do as a career?
Currently, I don't have a clear idea as to what I want to do after graduation. I'll definitely apply to PhD programs, but I don't know what field I want to specialize in. Right now I'm most interested in optics, laser physics, and math. For my senior project, I'm tasked with choosing a research advisor I'll work with for my final year of undergrad. The first professor is amazing. We have a great relationship, and I know I'll have an excellent experience working with him. His project deals with a field I'm interested in but don't have experience with. We would work with nanomaterials and fabrication - a lot of hands on lab skills. The other professor seems super cool. I don't know him at all, but his project deals with optics, lasers, and orbital mechanics. He's also working in collaborations with aerospace companies I'm interested in. I'm learning toward the first prof because chemistry with your advisor is so important since you'll be working with them for a whole year. I'll also be taking electives and labs in optics next year so it's not like I'll be missing out on the material. And at the end of the day, I think exploring options is the goal of the undergrad experience. Hi! I am currently pursuing my Bachelor's in Biology. I am also conducting water conservation undergrad research and conducting my own research projects is something I really enjoy.
