Would it be better for me to take AP or IB if I want to be a pediatrician?

I am currently a freshman taking an IB course, but I have the opportunity to switch to AP. However, if I choose AP, I would need to take Latin. Unfortunately, my school does not offer many AP courses that align with my intended major, with the exception of Biology. The available AP courses offered by my school are: African American Studies, Art History, Biology, Calculus AB, Computer Science, English Language & Composition, English Literature & Composition, Environmental Science, Microeconomics, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, U.S. Government, U.S. History, and World History. After researching both options, I found limited and mixed opinions about IB online. Some sources suggest that IB does not guarantee a diploma and is exceptionally challenging. Additionally, my school requires students to stay after school each day to attend classes, which I am not sure I am willing to commit to. However, if IB is the recommended pathway for pursuing pediatrics, I am willing to take the risk. However, admission to the program is not guaranteed, and I would need to pass an exam. Given these factors, I am genuinely undecided about which path to choose. (If I should pick AP, can you please select the APs that would best suit me.)

How hard/easy are Indian medical colleges (MBBS) when I graduated from high school (12th) in the U.S??

I am going to complete my 12th grade in the US next year. I am considering going to India for medicine as it is much cheaper and shorter. In a general sense how well would I be able to do in Indian Medical colleges. I studied in India until my 8th grade and then came to the U.S. from 9th-12th.

When do I begin studying for the MCAT?

I just finished my first year as an undergraduate student. I'm majoring in biochemistry and minoring in psychology. I know these two fields are very helpful for the MCAT. (I am very interested in those fields as well, so it was not the only reason I chose them.) When did you begin studying for the MCAT, and would it be too soon if I began prepping now? I got an MCAT practice app recently and do a few questions a day. #JULY20 #premed #college #physician #mcat #study #medical #biochemistry #psychology

Applying to Med School as a Low Income Student?

I know that the general advice for premed students is to keep undergraduate debt low, since the cost of applying can be thousands to begin with. I don't have concerns about having undergrad debt because of my school's generous financial aid (I get school grants, Pell Grants, work study, etc.). My main question is whether medical schools give any need-based financial aid. I've heard from an advisor that NYU, Columbia, and Johns Hopkins has strong financial aid for most or all med students now. I also know about Penn's full-tuition scholarships. Is there other information that'd be helpful for me to know? Thank you so much in advance! #medschool #medical-school #physician #doctor #medstudent #premed

Medical School req

I'm currently 3rd-year human biology and minor in psychology My goal is to go to medical school but my GPA isn't the best. I'm planning to take the MCAT next summer however, I'm told by my school advisor that I got no choice but to change my career plan because medicine isn't for me. I was planning to study for the MCAT as well as try to gain more experience during this summer. My question is whether having a low GPA would affect my acceptance to a medical school. I know medical school is highly competitive but I don't see myself doing anything other than a physician, I've had an immense passion for the medical field since an early age since I have a brother who is paralyzed, and I've witnessed his struggles Any advice on what I could do #school #medicine #medschool #physician

Is it harder for D.O.'s to get the same respect as M.D.'s?

I've recently become interested in #osteopathic #medicine. The philosophy of treating patients as a whole instead of just symptoms appeals to me. However, I've heard that it may be hard for D.O.'s to find residencies that are not biased. I hadn't even heard of D.O.'s until a year ago, neither have many people that I know. Vocational Inquiry

I got heart surgery about 2 years ago and since then I have stuck to the idea of being in the health field. I KNOW I want to be a Cardiologist. However, I don't know if I want to be a surgeon or physician. I had asked my cardiologist what classes they thought I should take and they said AP Math and/or Intro Physics. I took AP Statistics last year and I am currently taking AP English Language and Macroeconomics. I wanted to take AP Biology next year and get a job so I don't think I can do both. I wanted to ask: -Which one of the two classes should I take? -Are there any common classes for both surgeons and physicians? -What classes should I take if I choose to be a surgeon? a physician? -What major do I have to choose to become a cardiologist? Is there a best choice? -Do colleges want to see some sort of job experience or internship on resumes? If so, is there a minimum? -Would college care if I pass an AP class but fail the exam? Would it look bad on me? -What does a day as a cardiologist look like? For surgeons? Physicians? -Who do I go to if I want an internship? Do I have to find one on my own? -On average, how many years does it take to get my Masters and MD for Cardiology?
