Should I take physics or AP Bio senior year?
My guidance counselor suggested I take physics but I rather take AP Bio. It's more interesting and I want to major in Biology in college. (I want to be an optometrist) My counselor said she was concerned that colleges wouldn't the AP Bio credits but I think taking AP Bio would show my commitment to Biology. And do colleges require you to take physics if you're applying for a science major? #college #biology #physics #college-major #science

What career(s) would allow me to combine my love for physics and theater?
So long story short: I love physics, but I also have an intense passion for theater technology, stage management, and set building. What career can I pursue in order to allow me to combine my two passions? And what should I study in college? I was thinking of double-majoring in Physics and Theater Tech, but is that wise? #physics #theater #career-choice #career #theater-technology

How will colleges view my academic profile?
So I accepted the apprenticeship for the rail company. But the problem is that it's every other day. (My school is set up as an A/B day with different classes on either day. So I go to the apprenticeship one day, and go to school the other.) So I can't take all the classes I want to. It looks like a great opportunity to get my foot into the door for the engineering industry, and it pays $10/hour for my first year, $11.50/hour my second year, and $13/hour my third year. I get an associates out of it and a guaranteed job after it. It's the first apprenticeship in the state, so I'd be one of the very few (12 or so) pioneers. But I will also have to quit my job that pays $9.00, and the people there are really fun. I can't take any AP classes during school, and I'll have to take online classes after school to catch up on credits. I'm just curious how colleges and employers will view it. I'm also doing cross country. So will it look better if I do an apprenticeship (It might be fun and has good training, but I honestly probably won't complete the three years)? Or, will a strong academic record with athletics and an after school job look better? #college #engineering #career #computer-science #medicine #science #technology #engineer #tech #college-major #education #biology #any #math #acting #mechanical-engineering #mechanical #english #aviation #military #chemistry #robotics #physics #airline-industry #biomedical-engineering #information-technology #writing #high-school #aerospace-engineering #pilot #aeronautics #ap #navy #author #marine #army #band #community-management #air-force #schedule #marines #armed-forces #hashtag #pathway #airline #career-pathway #fighter-pilot #raptor #civil-air-patrol #first-responder #business #fun #apprentice
I have three plain career choices: AI researcher, theoretical physicist or ethical hacker. What should I choose?
I’ve narrowed down my career choices to these three career paths, based on my interests. I can either go into the AI field and help spearhead cutting-edge research into making a humanoid AI; I can become a theoretical physicist spearheading research in quantum mechanics, or become an ethical hacker and start a company providing AV and pen-testing services. I’m quite confused, and I’d like to choose a career that a) pays well *enough* and b) challenges me, but not overwhelmingly. I really, really would not want to become an analyst. I’m an INTP, if that helps. #career #research #ethicalhacking #physics #quantum #artificialintelligence #science

Should I take small engine repair?
My school has a semester elective called small engine repair. I learn to tune up and fix small engines like ATVs, motorcycles, lawn mowers, etc. Once the class is over, I would be able to fix small engines around my neighborhood, where I can get really good money. But then I will have to take a class in the summer to catch up on credits. Is it worth it? I do think it would be a fun and easy class. I can also take intro to automotive where I learn about engines in cars. What's my best choice? Will the class help me in college/career of mechanical/robotics/aerospace engineering? Should I do an apprenticeship?
Recently there's been an apprentice program for a train company. The way their program works is that I would do it every other day. Basically, I go to school one day, and the apprenticeship another day. I don't know if I should do it because then I would have to quit all of my electives (Band, NJROTC, etc). My school only has four periods in a day, so I would only be able to take core classes. I want to be an engineer, preferably in Robotics or Aerospace. The program could be beneficial, but it's not a career that I would want to stay in, but I would gain experience, in assembly, manufacturing, and electronics. Plus it pays $17/hour. What's my best option? Thanks! #engineering #engineer #college #college #mechanical-engineering #aerospace-engineering #biomedical-engineering #career #robotics #band #high-school #schedule #career-pathway #pathway #engineering #college #engineer #high-school #airline-industry #any #fighter-pilot #navy #armed-forces #aviation #army #raptor #biology #science #career #pilot #tech #technology #marine #air-force #marines #airline #hashtag #military #math #college-major #aeronautics #computer-science #physics #mechanical #chemistry #aerospace-engineering #robotics #any #information-technology #technology #medicine #information-technology
Is it better to take high school classes that are fun, or beneficial to college and career?
I want to become an engineer (Robotics or Aerospace Engineering). Currently, I'm left with a choice of taking classes like Mandarin Chinese (which would look good on resumes, and college applications), or classes like Engineering Principles, Electronics, and Robotics. I don't really want to take a language, but it could be beneficial. I plan on serving in the military (preferably Marines as a combat engineer officer), and translators get paid more (like $300 more or something a month). Or I can take classes like CTE and STEM classes, and complete a career pathway in engineering that is apparently recognized as a credential of value. I'm just curious as to what would look better on college applications, and job resumes (Bilingual or credentials)? Also, if I were to complete the career pathway, I would have to quit band. My teacher says that he could probably get me a scholarship for band though. Is it still worth it to complete a pathway? Finally, if I were to keep band, I wouldn't be able to complete the pathway, but I would still be able to take Engineering and Robotics. What' s my best option? Thanks! #engineering #engineer #college #college #mechanical-engineering #aerospace-engineering #biomedical-engineering #career #robotics #band #high-school #schedule #career-pathway #pathway #engineering #college #engineer #high-school #airline-industry #any #fighter-pilot #navy #armed-forces #aviation #army #raptor #biology #science #career #pilot #tech #technology #marine #air-force #marines #airline #hashtag #military #math #college-major #aeronautics #computer-science #physics #mechanical #chemistry #aerospace-engineering #robotics #any #information-technology #technology #medicine

What are career prospects in Quantum Information and Computing?
I currently hold a bachelors in Physics and have some research work in Quantum Information. I plan to pursue a masters degree in Quantum Computation/Quantum Information. I just finished a Physics Bachelor at ETH Zürich and I am starting a professional dance program at Steps on Broadway NY. I spent the last 2 months as an intern in a Data Science company. I also studied Architecture for one year and I love painting. I would love to do something useful for our society and feel attracted to the join between Physics and Medicine, as well as Environmental Science and renewable energies. As you see, I am interested in many subjects and struggling with todays super specialised careers. I have a technic profile, but I am a social person and I cannot picture myself as a lonely experimental physicist or a programmer... Any ideas on how to combine all my passions?
