Is a B.A/M.D combined program worth it, or is the traditional 4 year pre med then med school route better?

I am a honors/straight A student, and I do well in high stress environments and do well in science classes. Also I want to do surgery for reference, so I’m thinking a ba/md program would help save time. #pre-med #college #doctor

What are different types of neuroscience careers you can get with an MD?

I am in my last year of undergraduate for a neuroscience major and just started thinking I want to do pre-med. But, I am struggling with what speciality I would wanna do with an in MD related to neuroscience . I am very interested in forensics so like forensic neuropathology (but scared I might get squeamish with autopsies), forensic neuropsychology, or just plain neuropathology/neuropsychology. I would prefer to not work super directly with patients but instead more so study a brain and brain scans. However, I think it would be cool to do tests on people's cognitive abilities and how it relates to their brain abnormalities they might have, specifically those of criminals or psychopaths just because their brains interest me! #medical #doctor #MD #neuroscience #medical-school #pre-med #forensic #forensicneuropathology #forensicneuropsychology #neuropsychology #neuropathology

Where can I look for shadowing opportunities from a GP/ a specialist?

I am Annie, a year 3 student studying business administration and law at the University of Hong Kong, but it has always been my passion to enter a medical school and serve as a surgeon in the future. I am looking into applying for MD at Duke-NUS upon graduation of my current degree. And I would love to seek some opportunities to be shadowed by healthcare professionals, like General Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists and Community Nutritionists. Having served in the St. John Ambulance Brigade for almost 3 years, I have obtained qualifications in CPR, AED, PHTLS, Home Nursing and BLSO. I also have experience working in hospitals, such as the Haven of Hope Hospital and the Caritas Medical Centre. #healthcare #medicine #medical #doctor #mcat #pre-med

Why do most individuals that have a pre-med track do their major in biology?

Hi, I am currently a senior in high school who will be attending college this fall semester. I aspire to become a doctor one day. I understand that I would have to be on the pre-med track in college to be considered by medical schools. I am a little confused on my major right now. I did ask a few doctors and did some of my own research and found that a lot of individuals do biology as their major. Is there a reason as to why biology is so popular with the pre-med track? Also, would it be okay for me to major in something other than biology? I am currently considering biochemistry. #medicine #college-major #pre-med

A few of the University's I am looking at do not offer a pre-med major. What would be a good major to enter if the Pre-Med track is not an option(including Chemistry and Biology)do you believe I would be set back by not obtaining the pre-Med track.

Although I have been told it is not mandatory or entirely vital to major in Pre-Med to get into Med School.I would feel more secure in my studies if I majored in Pre-Med or something similar. What are your thoughts? #pre-med ,#medicine #university #major #healthcare
