What can I do to save years in college to become a doctor?

I am a high school student interested in pursuing a career in ophthalmology. I would like to complete my Pre-Med in 2 years, and I want to explore if there are any opportunities to do Med School in 3 years (condense the first 2 years and then rotations). I'm a high school sophomore, so what summer classes/courses can I take to save years in college? I am planning on taking several AP/Honors biology and chemistry courses through 11th and 12th grade. Could you suggest any specific courses or websites I can use? Thank you for your advice!! #doctor #student #pre-med #college #medicine

Can I get hospital volunteer hours virtually?

I want to be an ophthalmologist in the future, and I am currently a high school sophomore (10th grade). I know in pre-med/medical school admissions they ask a lot about what experience you have in the health care field, but I'm not sure how I can do that in the current times (the pandemic). I know the Mayo Clinic has some programs for high school students, and I'm applying for those - but are there other virtual opportunities that are currently available for this? Thank you! Have a great day. #high-school #experience #college #pre-med #admissions #ophthalmologist

What kind of volunteer work should I do for anesthesiology?

I have worked with the Florida Department of Health in research, I have made blankets for the homeless and have helped develop a social media platform for pancreatic cancer awareness. I am going to school for my BS in pre med and ecology. I don't know if it is frowned upon to not get any hospital experience before my internship. But, I can't find anything that will let me get hands on experience unless I am a nurse of some sort. #internship #pre-med #anesthesia #hospital #volunteer #doctor #biology #medicine #hospital-and-health-care #anesthesiologist #college

Is it better to go to a more prestigious, but more expensive, school for undergrad before medical school or to go to a state school for less money?

I'm a high school junior looking to apply to schools like Vanderbilt and Cornell, but also James Madison and Ohio University. All are excellent schools, however Vanderbilt and Cornell are generally known as more academically challenging and prestigious than others. I am looking to apply to medical school after earning my bachelor's degree, and was curious as to how much influence this had on me getting into the best medical schools. Is it better for me to spend more money and get the "higher level" degree, allowing me to network with the students and faculty there, or is it better to save some money and earn my degree at a cheaper school? Thanks! #college #doctor #pre-med #college-admissions #medical-school #counselor

How do you stay motivated?

Hi, I'm a sophomore in high school. And I know that it is EXTERMELY early for me already to lack motivation, but I'm taking all these hard AP/IB classes that have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO with what I want to be when I'm older. So I was just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to stay motivated because God knows I have a lot more schooling to get through! #medicine #school #pre-med #college-student #high-school-students #pre-medicine #procrastination
