Why do most individuals that have a pre-med track do their major in biology?

Hi, I am currently a senior in high school who will be attending college this fall semester. I aspire to become a doctor one day. I understand that I would have to be on the pre-med track in college to be considered by medical schools. I am a little confused on my major right now. I did ask a few doctors and did some of my own research and found that a lot of individuals do biology as their major. Is there a reason as to why biology is so popular with the pre-med track? Also, would it be okay for me to major in something other than biology? I am currently considering biochemistry. #medicine #college-major #pre-med

A few of the University's I am looking at do not offer a pre-med major. What would be a good major to enter if the Pre-Med track is not an option(including Chemistry and Biology)do you believe I would be set back by not obtaining the pre-Med track.

Although I have been told it is not mandatory or entirely vital to major in Pre-Med to get into Med School.I would feel more secure in my studies if I majored in Pre-Med or something similar. What are your thoughts? #pre-med ,#medicine #university #major #healthcare

Going into college, how do I balance pursuing a career as a famous actor and a pediatrician?

I am a senior about to graduate high-school. I want to be a famous actor and am set on being a pediatrician too. I've been told doing both is impossible, but that won't stop me from doing what I love. There is so much to learn in each field and I love helping people. Both careers give me that opportunity. I feel like at this point I'm off to a good start both academically and professionally and I want to ensure I stay on the right path to accomplish both. For anyone who has been/is pre-med: How many years into college did you learn you wanted to go pre-med? What experiences or classes in college made you decide pre-med? How many years (undergrad and med-school) did it end up taking?

I'm possibly interested in pre-med, but am wondering if it is best to go into it directly, or if it is possible to go into it in say, my second year of college and how that may affect my time in school. Thanks! #doctor #medicine #pre-med #medical-school #undergraduate

I feel like studying for 8 years and then spending a couple more years in an internship is a very long time.
