Do I have to decide to pursue medical studies right at the start of college?

I'm interested in a lot of careers, medicine being on of them. I want to have time to take classes in college and explore my options but I know that getting into medical school takes a lot of work and is very challenging. If I go into college not knowing what I want to do, will it be too hard to get into medical school and complete a major for premed? #medicine -school #pre-med

If you're stuck between two career paths, how do you go about deciding on one of them?

I'm thinking about going into graphic design versus becoming a Pre-Med student. I love Biology, but I'm terrible at math and think I would do way better in an artsier career where I could let my right brain thoughts flow freely. My parents would definitely push me to go the Pre-Med path, even though they tell me that it's my choice. I'd like to know how anyone who has been in a similar situation as the one I'm in has dealt with this problem. #college #college-major #career-counseling #career-choice #career-path #pre-med #graphic-design #decision-making

I have been set on majoring in Biomedical Engineering under a pre-med track for a few years and I was wondering how difficult it is to switch majors within an engineering department of a college throughout the four years of my undergraduate degree?

I am not quite sure if biomedical engineering will be the best fit for me and I won't know this until I try it out in college and I am worried that I will not be able to switch majors easily. I also want to study under a pre-medicine track which might make it more difficult to switch majors. No college seems to be able to tell me how difficult it would be to switch majors under a pre-med track so it makes me slightly worried. I was wondering if anyone had advice for that. #college #engineering #medicine #pre-med

Hello, I am a pre-med student (freshman in college) and I am really worried about not being able to gain shadowing experience because whenever I ask someone how they shadowed they're like "My parents know doctors" and my family don't really know doctors and I feel like that's the only way people gain shadowing opportunities. How do you enjoy life as a premed?

I really hate all the restrictions I have on myself as a premed. Basically all the things I did to get into college (fancy extracurriculars, stellar grades, 20+ applications, standardized testing, etc.) I have to do again to get into med school- but with a job on top of it. And I'm majoring in Computer Science, so that's yet another set of hardcore classes to worry about. To anyone who had to do the premed grind, did you enjoy it? Should I pick a major (Biology) relating to medical school to prepare for Med School, or should I just enter Med School with any degree I want?

I've been to seminars where people have told me to be what I wanted to be, because schools actually like diversity instead of "typical science majors". The only question that they've never answered was if it had given them an easier time understanding difficult concepts in the medical field. I was wondering if science degrees will help me more than taking non-science degrees when going to Medical School, or if I should do something else that I like. #medicine #health #school #pre-med -school

What major works best for a soon to be Pre-Med student but also allows a back-up plan?

I plan on pursuing Pre-Med in college, however I must declare a major. I want to choose something that I can also rely on (like a back-up) if I decide that Medical School isn't for me. Of course, I don't plan on quitting, but I'm worried that if something were to happen then I would be stuck without a plan B (that and my advisor said we NEED a back-up plan). Then there is also the issue of looking 'unique' med schools, so probably not the generic "Biomedical" or "Biology" (I don't want my back up to be a teacher). What types of majors should I look into? #college-major #pre-med #backup
