Does band and arts give you an advantage for college, even if music isn't your major or minor?

Next year, I'm in the 9th grade and I would like to major in either Pre-Med or Biology. I also take band and I'm in the marching band and planning to take it for the next 4 years. I'm wondering if that factor will give me an edge on my college application and if it will benefit me later. Thanks!

What are extracurricular activities, how would that factor into my college application?

I’m lost on what extracurricular activities are, but I’ve done some research and it talks about volunteering? My aspiration is med school, and I want a great profile for the top universities for my biochemistry undergrad. I have also enrolled in multiple competitions for research and projects involving STEM. What can I do?

Hi, I am in a CTE high school, and I am currently a freshman. I am in the Robotics program in my school, but I have a strong interest in Medicine, and going into the medical field. Although I am not in the medical program in my school (too much people), do I still have a chance of potentially going into the medical field?

My grades are good, I am taking advanced classes as a freshman that normally a sophomore or junior would take, (Algebra 2 and Chemistry). I enjoy both and am doing pretty good in them.

I am planning to shift this semester.. I am a freshmen in BS Pharmacy and planning to shift to BS Psychology.. Due to grades and can't handle the pressure of the course. Although I am very much aware that being in medical field is very heavy. I also don't know what to do as my parents have high hopes in what course I am now, I don't know how to tell them that I failed the semester. Any advice about this? It would mean so much to me..

I am a freshman student at a university, studying BS Pharmacy, but due to one maybe two major, it landed me to a downfall. Also the thing is, my dad wanted the course BS Physical Therapy for me but I don't see myself in that. With that, we had a huge fight as he didn't see the potential of BS Pharmacy. How should I tell him that I failed to show myself that I can prove that BS Pharmacy was a right course.. Medical field courses, the one that I have been wishing since childhood. If not, then what??

Is kinesiology or child development better for a high school student looking into medicine?

I'm selecting my 9th grade classes. I have no idea if other schools do this, but we have to create a "career plan" and select classes for all four years of high school. Between the classes of kinesiology (my high school's course catalog defines it as studying the effects of exercise on the body and studying skeletal, muscular, and neural movements) and child development (working with and talking to young children, earning CPR and first aid qualifications along the way), which is better if I would like to become a premed student in college? I specifically am interested in orthopedics or becoming a surgeon.

What is it like working in medicine?

Hi, to any doctor reading this, I am a rising high school senior and I might be interested in medicine. I like STEM in general, and I believe I have the brains and work ethic to thrive as a doctor. I understand that perusing the path to becoming a physician is long and challenging and takes a lot of sacrificing in the short term for long term gratification and I am fine with that, but I want to understand the lifestyle that comes with being a doctor. Please answer as many of the following questions as you are comfortable with answering, and if you have any extra insight you would like to share, feel free to do so! 1. How was your quality of life / social life during medical school, residency, and fellowship (if applicable)? 2. What type of people, or what type of characteristics/personality traits, tend to be the best fit for medicine? 3. What type of person would you recommend not peruse medicine? 4. How is your life now as a practicing physician? A. Do you have any free time/ energy for hobbies or personal projects unrelated to work? B. How is the quality of your social life outside of work? C. How many hours a day do you work? From what time to what time? D. How is it like being in a relationship/ having a family as a physician with your lifestyle assuming you work so many hours? 5. A lot of people online warn about the amount of student loan debt you accumulate on your way to becoming a doctor, as someone who is now dealing with that debt while earning a physician's salary, how big of an impact does it actually affect your lifestyle? I feel like if you are financially responsible and you set a plan to paying that debt off and you stick to it, it shouldn't be that bad when you are bringing such a good amount each month, what are your thoughts? (This is more directed for doctors within the U.S or any other country that has similar salaries to U.S physicians) 6. From the novelty aspect of your work, how stimulating is being a doctor? Does it become to feel just like a routine, or does every day feel new? 7. Anything else that you want to share about being a physician or any advice on how to know for sure that medicine is the right choice for me

As pre-med student, is it more beneficial to attend a cheap, less prestigious university or a more expensive university with a better pre-med program?

At one institution, I received a full-tuition scholarship, and it's close enough that I can live at home. However, it has limited pre-med opportunities outside of the curriculum. At the other institution, I received zero financial aid but was accepted to a prestigious honors pre-med program with multiple benefits (guaranteed freshman research positions, smaller classes, capstone program, etc.). I'm majoring in biochemistry in both, with plans to go to medical school to become a maternal-fetal medicine specialist. Is it more worthwhile to avoid debt at a smaller school with fewer pre-med opportunities, or invest in a school with abundant opportunities?

fresh graduate, need help to go for next step

I just graduated with my biomedical science degree (BS) ( I was thinking to going for medical school, or PA school, or AA school , or vet med school ). My situation has changed, I want to do WFH jobs. I haven't found much jobs I could do, I been applying for clinical research associate jobs... but they are not the best fit, so far all I got are rejection. I was thinking to get into a master program, that would lead me to a WFH job.... I feel like the only program I would be able to do is biostatistic, or bioinformatic. I toke some statistic class in college, used some R... I'm not great at it but I'm willing to practice to get better. I think I need overall guidance and direction... maybe there are different master programs I should be looking for? if anyone have any ideas, please feel free to share. Thank you ahead , Merry Christmas
