Should I get a premed degree to do psychiatry?
I am one year away from completing my bachelor's degree in psychology. I originally wanted to do child psychology for a place like Kaiser. However, lately I've been thinking about doing child psychiatry instead. I've been doing some research and see that instead of applying for a master's program I should be applying for med school. So I guess my main questions are: 1. Should I go back and do premed before applying to med school? 2. Is handling med school feasible while also working a part time or full time job? 3. If I do need to go back and do premed, is that something I am able to do at a community College in order to save money? #psychology #medicine #doctor #premed #college #Psychiatry #medschool

What kind of experiences would you recommend the summer before senior year and the summer before college in order to get ahead for pre-med in college?
I just finished my junior year in high school and I am wondering how I should be proactive this summer. I have heard that internships and volunteering in clinics is very good if you plan to go into pre-med, but I am unsure of how to get myself out there. Both of my parents did not go into anything medical related and my father actually did not attend college, so they do not have much experience with the college process. My biggest questions are how to get into internships and volunteering opportunities as an upcoming senior. #premed #internship #medicine #college
Is 12 years of in-depth education really worth it to become a trauma surgeon? It seems like a huge amount of time for one to be in school for a specific job.
At school, I am most interested in gross anatomy, microbiology, and biology, while my hobbies include athletics. A topic that I am passionate about is leadership and "organized chaos". #medicine #doctor #biology #surgeon #trauma #ICU #chaos #busy #medical #premed #med

Is it important to take classes outside of my major?
When I go to college, I'm probably going to major in a natural science, and, honestly, I don't enjoy English or history class. Is it a good idea to take those courses in college anyways, or can I only take the math and science I enjoy? #premed
