Once you're doing a certain job how easy or difficult is it to change that? I'm afraid of making a mistake. Is it common for people to change their career path? Do you have to start over every time you change jobs? If I'm not sure what career to pursue, what do you recommend I do for my major in college? #college #human-resources #recruiting

Academic achievements and real-life experience, which is more important?

I can probably say that I am good at academy, but I merely have real-life experience. Some of my friends always tell me that no matter how high GPA I have, without work experience, it is impossible to find a satisfied job after I graduate from college. However, I don't think so, and it doesn't make sense at all because without knowledge, how can you find jobs and in what reasons, the employer will hire you? #professor #counselor #recruiting #employer

How does recruiting and career counseling differ?

I am thinking about becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor so that I may specialize in career counseling. Originally, I wanted to be a career coach, but figured that specializing in other areas makes me more marketable. My main goal is to assist people with career knowledge and help them find jobs, should I look into Human Resources/recruiting as an alternative? #career #career-counseling #career-choice #career-path #human-resources #recruiting

What do you do, when you don't know what to do with the rest of your life?

How do you know when you are 18 and starting to think about your major what you really want to do with the rest of your life? What if you are unsure? Did they talk to you about careers in high school? Mine didn't. It was accelerated, average, and vocational, oh wait and farmers. Maybe I should get a career in guidance counseling and sit in an office and hope I make it through another year (sarcastically speaking). #interviews #recruiting #guidance-counselor #career-guidance #undecided

What is the best way to prepare a resume when you are changing fields and have a new degree?

I just want to know if there is a different way to prepare the resume to highlight the new education and desire to get into that field rather than falling back on your old jobs. I am looking for a career, not just a job. I want to dedicate myself but I need to know how to get recognized and not passed over. #human-resources #recruiting #job-application

Is an internship viable even after graduation?

I'm an Engineer student and about to graduate. I am actively seeking jobs and kind of struggling to find a suitable job due to lack of work experience. However, internships seem to be attractive for me since most of them require little to no work experience. So I wonder if an internship is still a viable option after graduation. #engineering #career #job-search #human-resources #electrical-engineering #recruiting

How do I start in a career?

Hello, I am a recent graduate and I have various skills in design, media, research, and web. Despite this, I am a beginner within all of these fields and I can't tell which career I should enter into or how. A lot of these jobs require a lot of experience. While I am very good and a hardworker, I do not have tons of work experience in one field. Overall, I have only a year of actual working experience. I can't take an unpaid job because of my loans either. The focus of my degree was originally in graphics and communication but I have found that those jobs are not too common in my area and marketing is more common. Any suggestions? I'm afraid if I take the wrong job, I won't get experience to build in a career and won't have stability or benefits in the long term if I don't follow a career path. #career #career-counseling #marketing #recruiting #career-development #marketing-and-advertising #graphics #web-design

When you're fresh out of college is it best to work for a while, travel, or go straight to Grad school?

I'm curious about the current state of the job market as it pertains to the hiring rate of students fresh out of college with their first Bachelor's degree. Do most employers favor new grads who've worked while in school? If so, how do students who have little work experience due to being committed full-time to their education go out and get jobs after graduating? Also, from the perspective of grad schools, do they prefer students fresh out of undergrad or is it best to work for a year or two before applying to grad schools so your resume is more substantial? Do they care about your resume or just your academic track record? #graduate-school #college-admissions #job-search #college-jobs #recruiting #hiring #employment #job-market #job-application

Why do some universities push you towards a career where you have no experience?

My professors are great, but I am finding that now that I am in the work force that I do not have the proper background for the position. How can they guide you you one way because you do feel passion for it, but didn't know you will never be a complete success. You owe money and you need to work and you thought getting a better education would give you more, but it doesn't even let you in the door. #college-major #college-admissions #government #recruiting #homeland-security #legislative-research

What do you wear to an interview?

I have a few interviews coming up in the following two weeks, and I'm not entirely sure what I should wear to it. I was planning on wearing dress shirt, a tie, khakis, and dress shoes, but I'm afraid it might be too informal. I'm not sure if I will be afford a suit or where I would be able to get one.
