How could I possibly shadow or contribute to my mentoring?
I have found a mentor that is a professor and a social worker with her own practice. When we first met we discussed things I could do, such as research and just asking questions in general, one of her suggestions was to shadow, but we were both concerned about the ethical dilemmas that would form as I am a highschool student although I do dual psychology classes at college which technically made me a college student. Many college students shadow professionals in the mental health field because they are studying that field, would this make it more acceptable if I were to shadow my mentor while obviously following HIPAA laws, ethical concerns, and getting the patients okay.
How difficult is an art therapy masters?
I'm a freshman in college and have already taken my first art therapy course, as well as some arts and psychologies.
What advice would you have for someone looking for more experience in their passion?
Hi, I am an upcoming college sophomore in the fall of 2023. I currently am majoring in Pre- Social Work and minoring in Speech Pathology. My ultimate goal is to become a Speech Pathologist but I want to get more experience right now. I am just not too sure where to look or start. Where do you think is the best place to find opportunities such as internships, scholarships, etc. for someone like me?
Is it better to major in Social Work than Sociology if you want a career in social work?
I got accepted into UC Riverside (as well as their honors program) and was originally Waitlisted at Cal State Long Beach. Recently, I was admitted into Long Beach in their Social Work program. I'm unsure whether I should stay with Riverside when I got accepted into my desired major at Long Beach. I know you can work in social work with Sociology, but is it as good as just studying Social Work? I know at the end of the day, I have to make the choice. However, hearing other thoughts and opinions would be much appreciated. Thank you!
