I want to join the BAU that's the only job I'm passionate about. Please help

I really want to get into the BAU and I would take the extra mile to get into it. Ever since I started watching Criminal Minds. I wanted to get a job as a profiler. The only problem is that they take US citizens only. I am an Indian and I know that they don't portray the BAU as the way it is. The tv show is an exaggeration and they most probably won't have a boy genius wearing a sweater vest or a diva giving details from the computer about the unsub. But I really don't have any intentions of being a part of a 9/5 job. . Is there any way I could get into the behavioral analysis unit? #criminal-profiling #psychology-education #sociology #swat #behavioral-health

I currently have my honours degree in Sociology. What additional subjects I should take to pursue juvenile justice?

I currently have my honours degree in Sociology. To be a juvenile justice officer, I do understand that you need a degree in criminology and would like to know what additional subjects I should take to pursue that. I love working with the youth and trying to make a change in society, hence my decision in Sociology. I have recently however decided I definitely want to work within the police force or even prison. I came across juvenile case manager and juvenile justice officer. I'm not eager to begin another degree and would just like to know what steps I could take next. I have been searching and trying to get information but nothing straight forward.I'm based in South Africa. #sociology #criminology #juvenile-delinquency #juvenile-justice #case-management Thank you!!

Careers available in prevention of human trafficking?

I am a high school student currently enrolled in collegiate high school working towards my AA. I am very interested in fighting sex trafficking and would be interested to know my options as far as this field goes and what my major should be to be successful on this path, but still have a versatile degree. Any advice? I know this is a bit vague but I'm really looking for as much information as I can get and I think experienced opinions to supplement my research could lead me in the right direction. How should I figure out my major?

I've never known what I wanted to do or pursue career wise. I took psychology and sociology in my first year and a half at college, and I liked them, but I don't know what exactly I want to major in. I wouldn't mind studying more into sociology but I also want a career with a pretty decent earning as well. I detest any mathematics, but I am quite fond of English, writing, history, sociology, psychology, communications, and philosophy. Quite a lot, I know, but those are the only classes I've taken that I'm interested in. I just want to find my path and what I like before I waste my money and time on other classes that won't benefit me. #psychology #career-counseling #communications #writing #english #sociology #history #philosophy #undecided #college

What are some possible occupations that involve cultural preservation?

I recently graduated with a degree in Sociology/Anthropology (that's one major) and currently live in Japan. Living in Japan has given me many opportunities to visit sites of cultural and historical importance. I've always been fascinated by the history of each place and have thought of probably doing work related to preserving cultural sites and maybe even educating others about the sites. Any suggestions are welcome, and feel free to add more information and advice as well. Thank you! #sociology #history #anthropology #culture #world

If I'm MISERABLE at college then what should I do?

“The world is in perpetual motion, and we must invent the things of tomorrow... Act with audacity.” – Madame Clicquot. I'm starting to become less risk averse and I may drop out or take a leave of absence from college because I hate it. I know it's easier to get a job with a degree but it is possible to still make it without one. If I'm interested in communications or marketing (don't know what I want to do) is it possible to intern with a company and then work my way up? I'm interested in how people think and I understand American culture very well. I'm also good at understanding group dynamics. I can't imagine myself in college for the next three years and I've tried rationalizing my situation because I'm so desperate but it just isn't working!... Thanks. #business #psychology #marketing #entrepreneurship #higher-education #sociology #start-ups #dropout

Why do we like linear trajectories? Aren't the best careers NON-LINEAR?

https://byrslf.co/your-career-is-not-a-path-2a7a02956078#.c2eo8tv9v This is probably one of the best pieces of advice about careers that I've seen. We set our lives up for linear trajectories... (college, grad school, job, marriage, kids, etc) but what if you step OFF the track? After all, deviance is what holds society together. I'm questioning whether I should stay in college because it's setting me up for a LINEAR career trajectory. Seth Godin says, "Pick yourself." meaning don't wait for authority to pick you or give you responsibility. Position yourself in a way that gets your message across regardless of the context. #business #psychology #education #marketing #college-bound #sociology #critical-thinking

How does the concept of the dialogical self impact our daily conversations?

The dialogical self is the mind's ability to imagine the different positions of participants in an internal dialogue in close connections with external dialogue. This theory weaves together two conecpts: self and dialogue to understand interconnections of self and society. How does this theory impact sociology, psychology, and the way we communicate in general? This ability comes natural to me and also reminds me of self vs. different subject positions in our culture. #psychology #marketing #research #communications #sociology #public-relations #business-intelligence #personality

Does living and growing up in a cosmopolitan area affect an individual's creativity?

People are who are intelligent aren't necessarily intellectual. I read a piece by a professor at Swarthmore College about how intellectual people see links between ideas and theories. Also, the majority of people in my town are part of the "Creative Class." Does the rise of the creative class contribute to more cosmopolitan areas? #business #psychology #research #communications #economics #sociology #public-relations #public-speaking

How can idealism and realism be combined to create a true visionary in entrepreneurship?

Visionaries are visionaries because they're crazy enough to believe that one day their idea will come true. Idealism and realism both play a role in becoming a visionary. Empathy and creativity also influence a visionary's actions. There are finders and makers. Finders are the idea people and makers execute the ideas. #business #psychology #communications #sociology #communication #social-media #marketing-and-advertising

What type of internships can I look into while working towards my degree in Sociology and Anthropology?

I am looking for an internship for my senior year in my undergraduate studies. I'm looking because it seems to me that most students receive jobs faster when they have done an internship at some point throughout their college career. It seems to be a great way to get my foot in the door, build up my resume, and find a job in the long run. #internships #undergraduate #sociology #resume-writing #anthropology #intern #gerontology
