What knowledge does a special education teacher needs to know?

Hello, I am going into 9th grade and I've been thinking about doing a special education career, or possibly a counselor if I did a job in a school. I was in special education for most of my life until 8th grade. It was much different to be in a study hall than special ed. I did miss it but I was able to adjust and learn to ask for help whenever needed. I would love to help students who are struggling to become a greater version of theirselves. I would assume you would need to know the subjects very well in the grade as this kind if teacher, which I believe you get better at overtime as you are working on the district. I would also assume maybe some counseling skills for students who may be out of control. This is just some of what I learned as being a special ed student and I would like to fully understand the concept of being a special ed teacher.

What types of social work is there In high school vocational school, the ECE program is somewhat interesting and I was wondering how does it work with teachers? What are some good dual majors? What about dual admissions as in your degree is accepted in more than one country? For someone on a IEP is there any good programs to help in college? Is there any programs like TRIO? I don’t have a lot of money and have some health issues is there any type of way to actually help me with that? Last question, how can get some extra help in college that can make up from the enabling from mostly my teachers and to get work on time to get actual extra help? ?

What would be an ideal career for someone who wants to work with disabled children but has a low patience?

I would love to one day be able to help and communicate with disabled kids, such as a pediatric occupational therapist or something similar, but I tend to loose patience without meaning to. I am afraid that a career path such as pediatric OT is maybe a little too social for someone like me, and in that case, is there any similar careers that would allow me to still help and be part of their lives, but perhaps in a more bystander-like position?

What can someone with a master's degree in special education work as in NY and NJ?

I work with an autistic child in an ABA program. I also tutor children in reading Hebrew. I am almost done my bachelor's degree and am looking to advance my education with a master's degree. I understand that the special education arenas in NY and NJ are different from each other. I live in NY but may move to NJ, so I'd like to make sure a special education degree can be worthwhile #education #special-education #career in both states.

With today's economy would it be more beneficial to get a bachelor's degree in business rather than education?

I start school in August for my bachelor's degree. I already have a an associates in science. I can not decide if I should major in education or general management. I am trying to decide which would suite me better with the way this economy is looking and try and prepare for the future for at least five years ahead. Or could I just major in business and get a minor in education? #special-education #business-management #bachelorsdegree #economy
