How do I improve my resume to get internship?
I am a 4th year mechanical engineering student at CSULB and looking to improve my skills and learn more experiences through internships and work experiences.
How much "exploration" (time-wise and in terms of course-load) is enough to ensure that your intended major is the most suitable/'right' choice for you?
I currently go to Rutgers University (New Brunswick) and will be a rising second year student intending to major in Cell Bio and Neuroscience with a minor in Economics. I intend to follow the traditional pre-med track with a special focus on business. Being at Rutgers this first year, I realized that many students come in thinking they want to major in something, particularly pre-med, only to later realize this isn't the correct discipline for them. I've heard an assortment of stories where students realize pre-med wasn't for them since freshman year of high school, while for others the realization didn't kick in till their last year of medical school! My question, then, is- How much "exploration" is enough to ensure that we know for sure that we're pursuing a career/field that suits both our interests and capabilities. I strongly agree that, yes, college is a time to explore, to break barriers, to go out of your comfort zone, to try new things-- but what's the finish line? What does the finish line of this exploration look like? Is there even a finish line or are we constantly exploring different avenues as we proceed further in our studies and afterwards? #pre-med #college-admissions #student-development

Do you think in today's society it is hard for teachers to aid students in forming their individuality, due to the strict curriculum and standards that are placed on them?
I am asking this because I want to be a teacher, and i have asked teachers this very question. I have noticed this, not just in my school, but in many across the country, that teachers aren't given free range to teach what their education has provided them with. Instead, teachers are given pre-planned curriculum and told how to introduce it. That is not why educators spent continuous hours learning how to be a proper teacher. As an Education major, I've realize that many students deal with many issues and sometimes don't take priority in their own education. From dealing with family issues to mental issues, I understand that one of my main jobs is to make sure that students passes the class that I teach, but I want to more than get a student in and out of my classroom. I want students to see learning as a way to enhance their mindset, I want students to see the classroom as a way to express themselves, and I want students to see a better education as an option for a way to escape the dark side of reality.
