How can I prepare for living at home during college rather than on campus?

I have heard, from many different students, that college requires a lot of study time. I am worried that having my family around may cause distractions for me when it's time to concentrate. My parents are helpful when it comes to my study time but my smaller siblings can be noisy and distracting at times. Also, living on campus provides many experiences for students and I wouldn't want to miss those experiences but don't know how I will be able to be involved living away from campus. #collegelife #studying-tips #livingathome

How can I develop good study habits for college?

I have pretty much breezed through high school; I am graduating top of my class and aside from completing mandatory homework, I have never really had to study for any of my classes. Thus, I am not quite sure how to effectively study-- historically all I have had to do is take notes in class and give them a quick glance-over before the test. The few instances where I had to seriously study for a test this year, I still did not perform very well, and I think the reason for this lies in my study methods. How might I improve my study skills so I'm not wiped out by challenging college courses? #studying-tips #study-skills #college-advice

Is it possible to learn scientific terms in another language while studying science in English?

I am already bilingual (speak English and Spanish), but my Spanish-speaking abilities still lie a lot more on the informal/conversational side rather than formal/technical. I know that just knowing another language will benefit me no matter what, but I feel that it won't help me as much in my career unless I can actually speak professionally in either language. Is there a feasible way of learning the new terms in Spanish alongside the English ones without feeling like I'm overloading my brain? Or should I leave that more for outside the school year/after graduating? #science #stem #women-in-stem #language #foreign-languages #study #studying #studying-tips

What advice would have greatly benefited you going into freshman year?

What tips, study habits, and guidance would have helped you prepare for your first year? In the blink of an eye, I’ll graduate from high school and go off to a university. I am very excited to embark on this new, exciting chapter of my life. I want to equip myself with the tools and mindset that will allow me to achieve success. I know college will bring many changes. There’s more independence, yet more responsibility. Time management and studying will be of utmost importance. Furthermore, there’s a new opportunity to define myself; to become the young adult I desire to be. When I finally take that step onto the campus that will become my new home, I don’t want to feel overwhelmed.
