What are Some Careers in Theatre?
I'm majoring technical theatre and design in college, which is my passion. I'd like to know what my options are, for a career. I do scenic design, but it isn't what I'd want to spend my life doing. I like the idea of having a higher position in the performing theatre. Perhaps, overseeing the designs done by the costuming, lighting, and scenic designers. I want something more overall that pertains to the entire field itself. #theatre #theatrical-production #set-design #construction-set-building #technical-design #stage-lighting #costume-design #costumer #production
What is the best way to start playwrighting professionally?
I plan to minor in theater and have been in drama for all of my four years of high school as an elective. I was an actor but lately I have become the Director and Playwright for my little class. Knowing my audience I have mostly written types of 10-minute brusque, low comedy, but have recently written a play that could fit into the tragicomedy genre. I would like to know how I can start out writing professionally besides taking creative writing classes and taking theater? How can I start getting them published or edited? How else can I prepare for a hopeful writing career? #writing #playwriting #theatre
As a theatre major, what do you do post graduation?
I'm studying acting, and unfortunately the odds of success after graduation can be hit or miss. What the heck do I do after I graduate? Their are many questions on how to obtain a manager, agent, publicist, lawyer. And which one is the most important. It is so easy to be taken advantage of. #theatre #performing-arts #art #artist #career

Is it harder to become an actor/actress as an adult?
I know there's a lot of casting companies who come around for children or teenagers to be in commercials and start off acting that way. But I am almost 17 and I can't afford to go to the acting programs offered for me. So my question is, is it harder for opportunities like this as you reach age 18? I really enjoy acting and want to do it for a living but I also understand that it's not a secure job choice. #acting #act #film-acting #theatre #theater #short-films #films

How will my gender affect the opportunities presented to me within technical theatre?
The world of technical theatre, especially in the realm of lighting design, is primarily dominated by men. However, as a young girl aspiring to work as a lighting designer, I am highly motivated to pursue this career. I want to know why the field is so dominated by men as well as how my stance as a woman will affect my path to success. #theatre #theatrical-production #theater-tech #gender-equality
What is a theater college like?
I ask this because I had no idea what it was going to be like going into high school knowing no one. The high school I went to for Freshmen year was a school the was for 6-12 grade so most people in my classes knew each other. I was lucky to go to a theater school so almost everyone was nice. I am just hoping college would be a bit different than high school. #college #theatre #performing-arts #theater

Is there such thing as a stable art career?
My most emotionally invested passions include different artistic forms, such as theatre, acting, and visual arts. I'm contemplating pursuing one of these fields as a career, but have been warned that going to college and studying any of these for a major is financial suicide. There's never any guarantee that you'll be able to get a job in that field, at least, that's what I've been taught. Is that really the case? Is it worth studying in college? #art #fine-art #acting #theatre
