Should I transfer schools? [College transfer]

Hello CareerVillage community! I'm currently a college student in my second year. I'm about to complete my fourth semester at my public school, where I'm pursuing a BFA in Studio Art, concentration in Graphic Design. I just declared my major as Graphic Design, but the program that I am in is lacking in many, many ways. It's not rigorous enough for me, and I feel like it's not challenging enough for me. My university is definitely not known for this major. I did want to transfer out in my first year, and planned on transferring out after making a portfolio, but I stayed for the friends I made and the communities I became a part of. But with the major that I'm in, it's a bit of a tricky situation. Should I be looking to transfer to more professional art schools? I do feel confident enough in my ability, but I have no portfolio. It's too late to make one, and I don't have time to apply as a junior transfer. It's a bit of a pickle. I know it's late, but I really didn't want to leave my school right now, but after spending a semester in upper-level Graphic Design courses, I'm seeing how awful the program is. Should I stick to my college right now, in a very lacking BFA program, or attempt to transfer to a more expensive school and wait a year to apply? I'm conflicted. Thank you in advance! tags: #art #graphic-design #college-transfer #art-school #fine-art #transfer

As a PSEO student, what is more beneficial.. graduating from my PSEO institution or transferring on to the college I want to go to?

This question came to my mind because I was having a conversation with a friend who was done with all her credits needed to earn her associate degree from a community college. She was also a PSEO student but she told me that she is not graduating from the community college, in fact, she is just going to transfer. According to her, the reason for doing so is because when one is graduating they get less financial aid as compared to students who are transferring. I am just really confused now, should I graduate from my community college or should I just transfer? #PSEO #Transfer #graduate PS: PSEO is a program which lets high school students finish their associate degree or get done with some of their college classes while they are still high school students!

Do employers care whether I earned my degree from a four-year or a community college?

I'm trying to understand whether employers place a lot of emphasis on where a potential employee get their degree. I want to save money by transferring from a community college to a four-year, but I'm worried it may cheapen my profile when I start looking for a career. I have commonly heard the saying that college courses are fairly similar, no matter where you go. Does a degree from a four-year university give an employee an advantage? Does a degree from a private four-year give an employee more edge over earning the same degree at a public four-year? #help #degree #publicvsprivate #employers #save #transfer

Does transferring school put you behind the rest of your peers?

I want to plan accordingly to decide if I want to stay or transfer to another school for next semester. However, since a lot of the core classes that I am taking now will not be transferred (I did a little research), I am worried that I will be behind the game if I do transfer. Thus, I hope you can give me some insight into how transferring can impact my academic career. #college #college-selection #academic-advising #transfer #college-advisement

I want to be in a certain career environment (entertainment/tourism), but also want to have the option of working with businesses. What type of communications degree should I choose?

I am a college freshman. I don't have a definitive answer for what I want to do for the rest of my life. A business degree has a lot of versatility and flexibility. I also want to major (or minor) in communications to compliment my business degree. By obtaining both degrees, I hope to be more marketable and well equipped with the skills necessary to succeed in the field of business. However, if I have an interest in working in an environment having to do with entertainment/ tourism, should I then get a communications degree specialized in those areas. I also have an interest in potentially working with businesses as opposed to solely entertainment as well, though. Should I simply go for the general communications degree to avoid pigeonholing myself? Should I instead go for public relations or an advertising degree? I am looking to attend Cal State Fullerton after transfer. #college #business #career #major #communications #undecided #freshman #transfer
