When do you come to terms of accepting failure or deciding to quit?

I began college as a Animal Science major and realized it wasn't for me. I'm currently a Psychology major, but I'm hoping to still be eligible of becoming a vet student. I keep holding onto the idea that you don't have to be a traditional vet student to be qualified. I have no direction of what I want to do anymore. Currently, I'm planning my degree and I don't know if all the trouble of taking science classes is worth it. Since middle school, all I've wanted was to be a vet surgeon, and now I don't know if I'm holding on to that dream out of my own pride or genuine desire. Any advice or personal stories to get me through this emotional hurdle would be most appreciated. #veterinary #veterinarian #psychology #veterinary-medicine #college

In order to make society and the economy become beneficial for all of the human race, what is one major ethical step we have to accomplish together to reach this goal?

I am 18 years old and I live in Riverview, Florida with my family. I love to play softball, volunteer at little league softball and baseball complexes, and hang with friends. My end goal in life is to make the world a safer and better place to live in for everyone. I want to spread love, positive and kindness to everyone I encounter. I want to go to college to be a Forensic Pathologist in the medical field. I am very ambitious and intelligent due to my parents being outstanding role models for me. #career #salary #veterinary-medicine #business #sonogram #goals # #career-path #loveislove #spreadkindness

Should I minor in Spanish or Wildlife when I plan on becoming a wildlife veterinarian (hopefully at a zoo)?

I will be entering college this fall, majoring in Animal Sciences. This major covers animals extensively, but should I choose a minor in wildlife to gain even more understanding? However, I have also heard that it is extremely beneficial to know more than one language, so should I minor in Spanish? Which would most likely end up being more beneficial in the end? #medicine #veterinary #veterinary-medicine #veterinarian #pre-veterinary-medicine

fresh graduate, need help to go for next step

I just graduated with my biomedical science degree (BS) ( I was thinking to going for medical school, or PA school, or AA school , or vet med school ). My situation has changed, I want to do WFH jobs. I haven't found much jobs I could do, I been applying for clinical research associate jobs... but they are not the best fit, so far all I got are rejection. I was thinking to get into a master program, that would lead me to a WFH job.... I feel like the only program I would be able to do is biostatistic, or bioinformatic. I toke some statistic class in college, used some R... I'm not great at it but I'm willing to practice to get better. I think I need overall guidance and direction... maybe there are different master programs I should be looking for? if anyone have any ideas, please feel free to share. Thank you ahead , Merry Christmas

What career other than vet could someone with an interest in animals/healthcare pursue?

I’m an 11th grader. I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 5. I’ve taken all the classes I believed were useful for my career and am in a program for aspiring medical professionals. However I’m having doubts now as many vets say that it’s an under appreciated job with high stress that you shouldn’t go into if you “just like animals” (the main reason I wanted to enter the field) I’m feeling a bit lost now. I considered becoming a paramedic but I was told it was a high-stress, low-pay job. What other careers could I pursue?

I really want to be a vet but science doesn't naturally click with me- is it possible?

I've wanted to be a vet for 3 years now and I've looked thoroughly into the ins and outs of it. I don't naturally get science though, I'm just not scientifically inclined and my grades in them aren't amazing but also not the worst (Grade 5/6/7 at GCSE). I try to force myself to want to do another career, but I just want to do veterinary. I feel like I'd always be jealous of vet students if I did that. It seems like it's rooted in me but I'd be a fraud and I wouldn't get what's going on, especially not as quickly as everyone else who's always gotten A* in all sciences. I'm due to choose my A-levels within a month or two. I definitely think if I carried on with wanting to be a vet, I'd apply to foundation courses where I'd only have to do one science. Any advice? :(

What steps should I take to become a veterinarian? And how has this pandemic effected vet clinics and hospitals.

I'm a sophomore in high school who has a passion for helping animals. I've been deeply passionate about becoming a vet because of an incident that happened with my puppy. When I arrived at the hospital after school I saw the animals and their owners waiting it hurts my heart knowing they need help. I saw the relief the doctors and nurses gave to the animals and owners, including me, which is what opened my eyes to the job I wanted and loved. What steps should I take to achieve my goal and dream and how has this pandemic affected the work in clinics and hospitals? #veterinarian #animals #veterinary-medicine #veterinary

Any advice on how to successfully complete college being a single mom?

I recently just found out that I'm expecting, and I'm only 18 years old. Right now I'm in my second semester of college, but my baby is due in September which will be the first semester of my sophomore year. I want to be a Veterinarian which means I have a long way to go until I'm completely done with schooling. My current major is Biology, and its already hard enough with an unborn child. Is there anybody who has been in my shoes or that can give me advice on how to succeed? #singlemom #teenmom #veterinary-medicine #veterinarian #biology #women-in-stem #stem #college-advice

Hello! My name is Nathaly and I am a current high school student. I'm conducting an interview with any professional in the veterinary medicine field for a foundations in health science class project about careers! I have created a total of 10 questions. Comment on this post, answering all 10 questions to be a part of my assignment.

1. What profession did you choose? Why? 2. How many years of college did you need to go through? 3. What jobs did you work before you landed your present professional job? 4. How can I decide if I should earn a PH.D in this field? 5. Were you in a college program? 6. Did you have to pivot and go back to school at a later date? 7. Did you shadow another professional in the field? 8. Did you join any school clubs related to your current profession? 9. Was there a particular subject you struggled with during your school years? 10. What skill sets did you learn or gain while pursuing your career?

Does completing your undergraduate degree in three years as opposed to four negatively affect your prospects of professional school??

I'm hoping to attend graduate school for veterinary medicine, but I'm curious as to whether finishing my undergraduate studies early would hinder me even if I acquired lots of experience beforehand and completed all of the necessary credits. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. #college #medicine #graduate-school #school #veterinary #veterinary-medicine #veterinary-school #vet-school #degree

How many year approximately does it take you to finish a veterinary medicine career?

Hi, my name is Ana or Anie, I am 15 years old almost 16 and I’m a junior in high school. I am interested in the veterinary medicine career/profession as you can tell from my question. I would love to be a vet because I am absolutely in live with animals and I want to study something in medicine but working with humans isn’t my forte, so I feel I should work with animals. But when I research online i find different responses and that’s why I cam here to ask true professionals about this career.

What should I do before I apply to colleges and related programs/scholarships in order to have a competitive application that stands out?

I am getting ready to go into my senior year of high school and want to make the most out of it before I apply to colleges and related programs/scholarships. I am interested in doing biochemistry and animal sciences, considering double majoring. My long term goal is to go to vet school. I already work at a vet clinic, have lots of leadership and volunteer experience, get good grades, have shadowed veterinarians, and take many science/health classes. I have also been very involved inside and outside of school in a variety of activities. Lately I’ve tried to find more opportunities related to animals. I feel like I’m in a good place for applying to colleges but is there anything I should be doing to stand out? I want to apply for competitive programs such as Purdue’s Veterinary Scholars Program.
