Newbie to welding, is there any advice for someone interested in advanced training?
Hello, I am a newly sprouted seedling in welding, and I am interested in potentially working on boilers or engines. Can anyone offer advice in regards to how I could learn the techniques for this line of work? I am studying at the Northlands Job Corps Center and intend to go into the welding program. Provided I am not derailed or find another option, I also plan to do their Advanced Training. If anyone welds pieces for boilers or engines, what's the work like? Is it fulfilling and does it engage any creative centers? Thank you for your time.
What is your guy’s opinion of me pursuing a career in welding?
I have plenty of experience with mig and decent experience with arc. I have only tig welded once though. I am already at the stage of welding up chassis and frames for my own mini bikes and go carts. I do a lot of metal work and metal fabrication.

I have been searching forskilled trade scholarships since October 2017. Very few exist despite workforce need in trades. Could anyone here share info about opportunities you've found?
Despite the critical shortage of skilled tradespeople in the American workforce, very few scholarships exist for students who want to attend vocational school or attend college for training in applied technologies. I know - I've been seeking scholarships since October 2017, for my Fall 2018 enrollment in Welding Technology at Alfred State.
