How to approach Professor about research?

Hello. I'm a wildlife biology major transferring to a four-year school. One of the professors does research, and after inquiring about a Special Topics in biology class, found he organizes wildlife monitoring/research with snakes, amphibians, and small mammals. While I do not need anymore credits this semester, I am hoping to still assist in the wildlife monitoring. What is the best way to approach him? I was thinking about telling him I would be extremely interested in assisting with the wildlife monitoring even though I will not the taking the Special Topics in biology class for credit. A CV has been prepared and will be given to him to share my previous experience. Thank you for any assistance and suggestions! #wildlife-biology #undergraduate-research-experience

Are there good science schools with family living?

I am a full time student and a single mom. My college is about 45 minutes away and I am struggling trying to find time for everything and still making sure I am with my kids everyday. I am living in a pretty toxic environment and need a place that has family living. Most colleges don't unless I am going for nursing or teaching #wildlife-biology #parenting #housing #family #college

What college clubs would benefit a wildlife biology career?

I will be transferring to a four-year school this month and hope to participate in clubs. There is a bee keeper club, herpetology, and organic farming, that I know of so far. While not being sure what activities are done in each, what should I look for if I wanted something that would look beneficial on a resume? Thank you! #wildlife-biology #college-clubs

What jobs can I apply for with a degree in conservation biology?

I previously wanted a degree in wildlife biology, but after I further explored my interests I became more intrigued with the conservation aspects of biology rather than the scientific aspect. Should I choose a minor that is easily utilized if my major is specific to a certain field?

I would like to major in conservation biology or wildlife biology, but it seems like a very difficult field to become employed in, and I was planning on minoring in psychology because I am interested in behavior and thought it would compliment a biology degree. However, would it be better to minor, or double major, in a more career-oriented field? Such as business, marketing, liberal arts, etc. They aren't especially interesting topics for me, but would they serve well as a backup plan? #conservation #wildlife-biology #business #marketing #liberal-arts #choosing-a-major #choosing-major ##choosing-a-minor #choosing-a-career #psychology #majors-and-minors #interests

What can I do in high school to prepare for a career in wildlife biology?

I want to pursue a career in wildlife biology or conservation biology. At my school, there are extensive programs to prepare students for a career in the medical services, and engineering. There's classes for theatre and visual arts, as well as other performing arts programs, however there does not seem to be anything at my school to expose my to the areas of my interest. Is there something I can do on my own time to get some sort of experience/exposure to wildlife/conservation biology? If so, what? #wildlife-biology #conservation-biology #wildlife-conservation #career-opportunity-and-preparation #college-prep

What jobs are available for a biology major?

I have always loved studying biology in school. I have actually taken all of the science courses offered to my school i love science so much. Upon speaking to the schools guidance counselor, I found that i truly wanted to major in biology. What jobs would be achievable with a #biology major? I always dreamed of working with animals, but not testing on them. I would love to become a veterinarian but there is a lot of schooling involved there, and i feel as if i would get lost along the way. The specific major I was looking into was Biology with Ecology Concentration, but i have no idea what i would be able to manage with this. #wildlife-biology #ecology

How Did You Figure Out What Your Dream Job Was?

I'm a high school senior who has wanted to be a veterinarian ever since middle school, but after shadowing every veterinarian in my area, I realized that I did not want to be a veterinarian anymore. Since then, I have changed my "career path" numerous times. I thought I wanted to be a wildlife biologist, a photographer, a dancer, a choreographer, a systems architect, a lawyer, an environmentalist, a teacher, a surgeon, and more. I just can't decide on anything and due to the fact that I have my 2-year AA degree (through PSEO) my generals are all completed so I really only need to do 2 more years of college for my intended major, but I don't know what it is yet. Any advice would be appreciated! #stressed #help #veterinarian #dance #choreography #wildlife-biology #environmental-science #systemsarchitect #surgeon #teacher #lawyer #photography #pseo

I'm currently a Biology, Wildlife&Conservation Science, and Film major. Should I switch to engineering, computers, or something along those lines?

I'm currently a Biology, Wildlife&Conservation Science, and Film major. I'm mildly regretting not majoring in computer science, engineering, or something along those lines, but I'm already a junior. I'm performing poorly in my classes lately...I'm a smart person, I've just been unmotivated and bored. The Film classes are super fun, but I keep looking back and wished I had done engineering, physics, or something like that. It's something I've been second guessing since I did it, and that can't be a good sign, but I'm at a loss for what to do to figure it out. #computer-science #engineering #science #biology #mechanical-engineering #biotechnology #environmental-science #wildlife-biology
