What are the best ways to react to sexist behavior towards you in and out of the workplace?

All women around the world get these passive-agressive or directly agressive treatments and behavior from other people, and very few times we end up feeling we reacted assertively. Due to this, it is very important to talk amongst us and share what have we said and done, and how did it work and made us feel. #career #college #women #workingwomen #sexism

Why is the Film Industry primarily dominated by male directors and is it difficult for women to succeed in this field?

As an aspiring female filmmaker, I have often asked myself why I only saw male directors on stage accepting their Academy Awards. Why are there few well-known female directors? Is there a low number of women filmmakers or are the talented ones not being recognized? How can I, a passionate and hard-working future female director, break into the film industry without being neglected or doubted? Will the work I create ever be enough to garner recognition and praise or will my male counterparts overshadow my significant accomplishments? These are the questions I have as I continue to look deeper into the film industry. These answers to these questions can change my future and affect my successes. If the answers are negative, I leave you with only one other question: When will it change? #women-in-film #women #film-production #film #media #discrimination #gender #equality

What are the greatest challenges of women in accounting?

I have taken interest to major in accounting. I hear many things on how women are discriminated against in certain career fields and majors. To what extent does being a woman interested in a STEM field benefit or disadvantage me in terms of college admissions and later career opportunities?

I am asking this question because I am interested in entering a STEM field. I am currently undecided on the major I want to go into in college, though I know that it will be in a STEM field. I want to be aware of the opportunities that will come along with my choices to go into a STEM field, and whether I will have the advantage as a woman when it comes to college admissions and financial aid. Furthermore, I want to know to what extent being a woman will help or hinder me when it comes time to find a job. Because STEM fields are those that are traditionally male-oriented, I want to know how breaking that boundary will help or hinder my ability to get a job and be taken seriously as a woman in STEM. #college #engineering #career #science #college-admissions #stem #admissions #women

How do you think we can encourage more women to pursue a career in STEM fields?

As a young lady myself, I am saddened by the lack of interest in STEM that I see in my female peers. As children, an equal amount of men and women are interested in STEM fields, but as we grow up, girls seem to view STEM as a more masculine field and begin to distance themselves from it. I believe it is important for women to be interested in becoming a part of these scientific fields, or else we are losing out on thousands of bright minds. How do you think we can best facilitate interest in STEM in girls around the world? #stem #women-in-stem #women #women-in-tech #young-adults

Why is their negative stigma surrounding girls who want to major in STEM programs?

As a girl who grew up on numerous video games, I am so curious to why there is such a negative connotation of the phrase "Female Engineer." I am hoping to major in Computer Science at a large university but am so befuddled in the area of STEM careers and women. Why isn't there huge names of women in computer fields? Like a Steve Jobs or a Bill Gates? I grew up around Star Wars and technology, and have been accepted as the "nerd" I am. But I still do not get why people are so against a woman in an IT manager or CEO role. Are people intimidated? Is it rare to have smart women pursing their inner dreams, despite the social aspect of it all? #computer-science #technology #tech #video-games #stem #computer-programming #computers #women

As a chemical engineer, do you realize any notable differences in the work ethics of female chemical engineers and male engineers? If so, what are some notable differences? If not, what are the similarities?

I am a female high school graduate who is looking to pursue a lifelong career in Chemical engineering. What drove me to ask this question is the simple fact that quite a few people have asked me why do I want to be a chemical engineer considering that I am a female, and "females just don't fit in careers like that?" I feel like this question can help people realize that females can be just as productive and are just as deserving of recognition as males are. #career #science #work #engineering #women #chemical #equality #ethic

For female professionals: Have you even encountered any obstacles obtaining leadership positions because of your gender, and if so, how did you handle those challenges?

I've always had slight concerns about being a woman pursuing a historically male-dominated field (in my case, psychology research/professorship), and I was curious what have been the experiences of women in leadership positions. Was it difficult getting where you are because of your gender? Are there certain fields where sexism is still a common practice?
