What is the best method for getting a job in a zoo or wildlife rehabilitation center?
I have always been interested in wildlife and plan on being open to either option once I receive a degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Sciences at Washington State University. So far this is just a plan but I will be applying for their spring semester which begins this January. I guess I just want to know if this is a good idea or if there is another method such as volunteering or internships that I should also keep in mind. #zookeeper #wildlife-rehabilitation #zoology #wildlife-biology #wildlife-conservation

Do I have to major in biology to be an ornithologist/zoologist?
I want to be a zoologist, specifically an ornithologist focused on research and conservation. However, I'm not particularly interested in what is going on inside the bird. I understand how that would be important to know, but I don't want my major (i.e. biology) to simply be focused on this. I'm more interested in how different factors affect a bird's (or other wildlife) wellbeing. #career #science #biology #career-counseling #zoology #ecology #environmental-services

How can I obtain training or experience working with animals?
I am going to school for Zoology to become a Zookeeper at the Oregon Zoo. I have been told that obtaining any relevant work with handling animals would look good on my resume. Especially while I am attending school, but I have a full-time job and am going to school full time. How would I be able to find a job in the animal field that could benefit me and help me gain the experience that I need? I would need to work full time. I am kind of stuck in a field that has NO animal related training at all. I have applied to shelters, tried volunteering, but it is hard with full time school and work. #animals #degree #job #Zoology #Wildlife
