Is it possible to do research as an undergrad with a major in biomedical engineering?

Where can I look to get real-world experience?

I am a college student, declared in the electrical engineering major. I don't have a 3.0 at the moment but I would like to work in a field specific to my major and skills that I have acquired. How much does an engineer make a year?

I heard that an engineer can make up to 125k a year. Is that true? What types of engineers would qualify for that? How do I know if I could do that?
