Anthony’s Answer

It usually depends on your Q-Rating which is composed of your public persona, success rate, and some intangible factors such as likeability. So if you are well-liked outside the sport in the public domain and don't do or participate in activities that can damage your reputation along with winning and/or competing at the highest level, sponsors will want to hire you to advertise their products.

Anthony recommends the following next steps:

#1 Practice your game so you are at the highest level golf is a highly specialized sport and is in a niche market so your audience is more limited than being a professional basketball, football, or baseball player. Unfortunately, Tiger Woods is probably the only golfer who is recognizable and known to people who aren't golfers themselves.
