How can I pace myself when writing a long paper for school or completing a project ?

I’ve often had to write 20 page papers and I’m given a deadline. I’m not sure how much work to do each day and sometimes find myself procrastinating.

Laura’s Answer

Say you have eight weeks to produce a twenty-page paper. Divide the number of pages by the number of days, and this will tell you how many pages you should produce per week (in this case, about 2.5 pages per week.) Every week, set a reminder to finish 2.5 pages.

April’s Answer

Instead of setting a daily minimum that you might not stick to, try setting deadlines. For example, aim to "complete an outline by Monday" or "finish the rough draft by Friday the 14th." This way, you can enjoy your life while staying on track. Being too strict often leads to failure.
