Hi Tyler,
Yes industries are constantly evolving so one way to prepare for the future is to continue to develop those attributes and characteristics that all employers seek in hires, regardless of the industry. Do some research and you will find that all employers desire employees that have strong communication, problem-solving, digital literacy and teamwork skills, among a few others that always seem to be cited irrespective of the industry. So, seek out volunteer, professional or work opportunities that will allow you to gain such experience and increase your proficiency. You could also take career tests that help you to identify occupations that match your preferences, interests, personality, abilities and aptitude so you could and work towards such a profession rather than focus on an industry.
Best wishes,
Tony

I agree with Tony that it's important to build solid skills in your chosen profession first, then you can specialize in an industry. Research how your chosen profession has changed over time and whether there are trends indicating the next phase of change. For example, maybe your profession will require the ability to use AI in the future where it didn't in the past. Or maybe you will be able to work remotely instead of having to travel or go to an office. Whatever the case, think critically about what skills or habits you can build to adapt to those changes. To expand on the second example:
If you expect to work remotely, think about the communication skills you can use to show that you are getting your work done without needing oversight from a manager. This may involve a regular email to your manager summarizing your recent accomplishments, maybe even including some analytics, to create transparency into your work. You may also need to create a focused work environment by removing distractions in your at-home work space. It could look like setting up a comfortable desk away from a tv, putting your phone on mute or in another room, and blocking time to focus on work outside of meetings.
Being adaptable and curious will help you to adjust to any changes in your chosen profession and stay ahead of the curve.
