What other professional license(s)/credentials should I pursue after getting my BSW and Iowa license?

I’m not necessarily looking for any specific answers due to how marketable a social workers degree is, but I just want to know what else is out there.

Hi Bellatrix,

Huge congrats on earning your BSW and getting your license!

If you're thinking about the next step in your social work career, consider going for your LCSW or LICSW to become a therapist or counselor.

If certain therapy areas catch your interest, you can specialize or get extra certifications to boost your skills. For example, you could earn your CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) certification. Or, if you're passionate about helping people heal from trauma, the CCTP (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional) could be a great fit. You can even focus on a specific age group, like Early Childhood, with specialized training. Once you find what excites you most in social work, search online to see if there's a certification for it. Following your interests is always a win!

Wishing you all the best!
