Do Wedding Planning companies usually have a team base? If so, do you know of any in the LA County, San Bernardino County or Riverside County??

Movies like the Wedding Planner (one of my favorites!) imply that WP companies do have a physical building for the team to meet up, but I just wanted clarity about that. I am on the lookout for some local Wedding Planning firms that I can contact about an internship. I just need to know where they are...thank you!

Hi Alaina. I am not familiar with the wedding planning business, but I am very familiar with corporate event planning. As I understand wedding planning, most service providers are likely to be small and independent businesses making it unlikely that they can afford to have expensive office space. I imagine many are running out of their homes and when they do hire staff it is in contracted remote working capacities. That said, I'd recommend that you search on largest wedding planning companies in your area. You can also reach out to family and friends and ask around if anyone knows a wedding planner and try to connect with that person and have a conversation about your career and internship plans. An internship option might be simply helping a planner on a few of their projects. My daughter worked several months as an assistant to an event activity coordinator who operated as a sole proprietor. You can also consider getting an internship or a part-time or summer job working for event venues, e.g. hotels, catering halls, country clubs. You can learn a lot about the professional side of wedding organization and activities from these venues. They will also certainly know many of the most active local wedding planners. Finally, if interested you could expand your scope of event planning to corporate event planning and sporting event planning where there are many more career opportunities while sharing many of the same roles and responsibilities.
