Imani’s Answer

Hello there, Diamond: I looked up the information for becoming a midwife in the Occupational Outlook Handbook and discovered the following: "Nurse midwives (CNMs) provide care to women such as gynecological exams, family planning services, and prenatal care. They deliver babies, manage labor emergencies such as hemorrhaging, repair lacerations, and may assist physicians with cesarean births. Nurse midwives can provide primary care to women and newborns. They also offer wellness care, guiding patients in living healthy lives through discussions about things like diet and disease prevention. Nurse midwives also provide sexual and reproductive health care to their patients' partners."

Lashay’s Answer

Hello Diamond: To be a mid-wife, I looked up the information in Occupational Outlook Handbook and found the following information: "Nurse midwives (CNMs) provide care to women, including gynecological exams, family planning services, and prenatal care. They deliver babies; manage emergency situations during labor, such as hemorrhaging; repair lacerations; and may provide surgical assistance to physicians during cesarean births. Nurse midwives may act as primary care providers for women and newborns. They also provide wellness care, educating their patients on how to lead healthy lives by discussing topics such as nutrition and disease prevention. Nurse midwives also provide care to their patients’ partners for sexual or reproductive health issues." I hope this helps and for more information google Occupational Outlook Handbook 2018 for current pay that they receive and how much they are needed or in demand. Best wishes in all of your future endeavors!
