How do I gain more experience in Diesel Mechanics as a 16 year old female?
I'm sixteen and I'm interested into going into diesel mechanics and just realized this year that this is something I am really interested in pursuing though I don't exactly know where to start.

Hi Cheyanne,
That's a great career choice! Hands-on technical skills are always needed.
Truck Country Technical Institute offers a 2-year program to become a certified diesel technician in Dubuque. I would recommend that you just contact them for more information.
Other options:
In Peosta, Northwestern Iowa Community College has a diploma program that takes 12 months.
Eastern Iowa Community Colleges has a diesel technology program with a choice of certificates, diploma and associates degree in Bettendorf (Scott Community College).
If you would like to get some experience while still in high-school, see if you can get an internship or an after-school job to start getting your hands oily.
I hope this helps! All the best to you!
