What is a great school it get into for Inter design?

I just starting high school and I kind of know what I want to do. I just need help getting there. I don't know where to start.

The best school for interior design is the one that is best suited for you and that is best determined by getting to know yourself better to confirm that interior design is indeed suited for you and then talking to people who are successful in that area to get their suggestions and advice.


It really does not matter where you go to school, as the most important things are how well you do in school to get the best grades and how well you do with interpersonal networking to gather information about how you relate to the field and develop contacts that will provide information and lead to possible jobs.


Many people get a great start at their local community college as the classes are smaller, the costs are more reasonable, and they have opportunities for coop and intern programs that will allow you to earn and learn and get to know the inside view of the job. It would be very helpful to meet and talk to the Director of Alumni Relations at you local community college to arrange to talk to graduates of their interior design program to see what they are doing, how they got there, and what advice they have.

The first step is to take an interest and aptitude test and have it interpreted by your school counselor to see if you share the personality traits necessary to enter the field. You might want to do this again upon entry into college, as the interpretation might differ slightly due to the course offering of the school. However, do not wait until entering college, as the information from the test will help to determine the courses that you take in high school. Too many students, due to poor planning, end up paying for courses in college which they could have taken for free in high school.
Getting to know yourself and how your personality traits relate to people involved in various career opportunities is very important in your decision making process. During my many years in Human Resources and College Recruiting, I ran across too many students who had skipped this very important step and ended up in a job situation which for which they were not well suited.
