Vas’s Answer

Math is important to everyone regardless of what you chose to do in life. Not everyone needs to be able to solve complex equations and advanced mathematical problems, but everyone needs to understand basic math (Algebra, Pre-Calc maybe even some Calculus, Geometry, Statistics) to the point that you are comfortable understanding basic math concepts and can use it to solve real life problems! Since you mentioned sports, don't you think that math would be important in managing your money, understanding statistics related to your sport, and in general being comfortable solving day to day number related problems? As a sports person, whether an athlete, manager, coach, trainer, etc. you will always need to be comfortable around numbers. Yes, if you are successful, you could hire people to manage your money but wouldn't you rather know what they are really doing with it? Same goes with many other examples of day to day use of math such as statistical analysis, which is very much used in all sports today, and could be critical to your career! I can list many other examples but I think you get the idea by now. My wife is a College Math Professor and it pains me to hear her stories about many students coming into college with very little to no math skills whatsoever! I don't know what grade you are in, and I hope it's not too late, but make sure you get at least some basic math skills while you still can! BTW, I do come from a family of athletes, at all levels, including pro, and I can assure you I speak from experience! Good luck!
