I don’t know much about how that work is performed. My guess is that is is evolving from being manual (wrenches, hand tools etc.) to being more computer related... I think the first question you want to ask is do you like working on cars? Does it seem like you would want to be on your feet a lot, moving around a lot, working with a small team in the same place, i.e., not traveling much? Given how many cars we have in the country you would always have work and you could move and find work easily. But in the end you have to like it.
