hile almost all states have some sort of contingency for wildfires, the Western and Southwestern states will have more firefighters year round for that specific purpose.

California fire departments have firefighters specially trained to handle wildfires. Wildfires are a separate topic taught at the fire academy due to its nature of how it starts and the difficulty in fighting wildfires. While almost all states have some sort of contingency for wildfires, the Western and Southwestern states will have more firefighters year round for that specific purpose.
