Hi Jacob,

How great that you realize you enjoy helping people, especially children. I would recommend finding out about local children's charities in your area. After a quick google search for "children charity" + your city or town, you should find information on those nearest to you.

Other options that come to mind are to find a Big Brother Big Sister organization where you can mentor a child, or get in touch with your local children's hospital to find out if they have a need for volunteers. Additionally, you can find out if a local scouts troop is in need of volunteers or scout leaders.

Hi Jacob!

It is amazing that you feel that love and responsibility for helping kids at such a young age. Courtney had very good suggestions for volunteering so I'm going to take the career route.

See below some careers you can choose from to impact children's lives:

  • Teacher/Professor/Tutor
  • Social Worker (in schools, hospitals, foster agencies, etc)
  • Guidance Counselor
  • Special Education for disabled children
  • Administrative/Manager role in a non-profit organization

Research these online see if any are appealing to you
Ask family and friends if they know anyone in one of these careers to see if you can have a sit down meeting with them to learn more about it.
